We’re officially on the map!

From the Metro East up to Chicagoland, the very first class of certified Crisis Response Therapy Canines has officially deployed across Illinois.

11 certified therapy canine teams from seven different agencies with one standard of excellence.

These teams are now back in their home jurisdictions, fully equipped with the specialized training needed to support de-escalation, trauma-informed response, and community outreach.

The Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board extends our deepest condolences to the Chicago Police Department. We mourn the tragic loss of the officer killed in the line of duty and offer our continuous prayers for the second officer fighting for their life.

To the families, friends, and the entire CPD community: we stand with you during this unimaginably difficult time. We will never forget their courage and sacrifice.

Standing room only for the future of officer wellness.

We were blown away by the turnout at the Women in Criminal Justice Conference in Peoria! Huge thanks to the ILETSB Executive Institute for having us.

With over 90 attendees packed into our session, it’s clear that the demand for the Illinois Crisis Response Therapy Canine program is at an all-time high.

Our team spent the hour diving deep into how these incredible dogs are transforming crisis intervention and supporting our officers on the front lines. The energy in the room was electric, and the questions from leaders across the state prove that Illinois is ready for this "Gold Standard" in wellness.

The best part? We are just a week away from the graduation of our first-ever crisis response therapy canine certification class. Stay tuned as we make history!

Trooper recently participated in the 2025 AKC Turkey Trot 5K event, demonstrating the importance of physical activity and community integration for both handlers and their support animals.

Therapy K9s, such as Trooper, are a vital component of the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training, providing immediate, non-judgmental comfort in critical situations, and serving as an invaluable resource for:

🐕‍🦺Supporting first-responders and the communities they serve.
🐕‍🦺De-escalating crises and providing emotional aid during training.
🐕‍🦺Fostering positive relationships with the public.

We are thankful for the dedication of our handlers, and the positive impact our certified therapy dogs have on the communities we serve.

We wish everyone a safe and meaningful Thanksgiving holiday! 🦃
