FCPS celebrates the rich diversity and honors the many contributions of immigrants of Caribbean heritage to our nation during the month of June. Caribbean individuals are some of the most ethnically diverse in the world. There are more than 8.5 million individuals in the United States born in the Caribbean or of Caribbean ancestry.

En FCPS celebramos la rica diversidad de los inmigrantes de ascendencia Caribeña y durante todo el mes de junio honramos sus muchas contribuciones a la nación.

Eid Mubarak to all who observe! Eid al-Adha, or the “Feast of Sacrifice,” is the second of two main holidays celebrated in Islam. Muslims believe that Eid al-Adha signifies the willingness of the Prophet Ibrahim, known as Abraham in Christianity and Judaism, to sacrifice his son, Ismail, as ordered by Allah. It focuses on sacrifice, the pilgrimage to Mecca and giving to those less fortunate.

Have you met our amazing Multilingual Learner Teaching Team?! 💚

We are so lucky to have this incredible group supporting our students every day! One of the many wonderful things about Forestdale is that we represent so many languages—and we truly believe that’s our students’ superpower. 🌍✨

Our MLL team helps students embrace and celebrate their home languages while also building their English skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

And can we talk about the matching shirts?! Because teamwork (and style) is clearly part of the job description. 💚

¡Tenemos mucha suerte de contar con este maravilloso grupo que apoya a nuestros estudiantes todos los días! Una de las cosas más especiales de Forestdale es que representamos muchos idiomas—y creemos que eso es un superpoder de nuestros estudiantes. 🌍✨

We are so excited to celebrate our incredible Forestdale staff this week! 💚🦅

Each day, our teachers and staff go above and beyond to help our students Soar Beyond Limits, and this week is all about showing them just how much they mean to our Falcon family.

From kind notes and laughter to small acts of appreciation, we can’t wait to see our students and community lift up the amazing people who make Forestdale such a special place.

Let’s make it a week full of gratitude, joy, and Falcon pride!

Mental Health Awareness Month is about more than awareness—it’s about showing up for one another. 💚 It’s a chance to stand with your community and remind each other that no one has to struggle alone. Together, we can speak up, support one another, and break the stigma surrounding mental health.

We loved welcoming our Preschool–2nd grade families to our first Title I Reading in Pajamas night—what an amazing turnout! 💚

Parents and caregivers learned how to support young readers at home through Benchmark Literacy, guided by Ms. Diane Leipzig (Office of Equitable Access to Literacy Instructional Services), while students enjoyed hands-on literacy fun—from Scrabble and Stone Soup to Froggy activities and sensory letter play 📖✨

We ended the night with families practicing reading strategies together, plus FREE pizza 🍕 and books 📕, generously provided by Luci Hime and Luci’s Mobile Free Library.

✨ Huge thanks to our Literacy Committee, Lewis student volunteers, Ms. Leipzig, Luci Hime, and all staff who made this night so special! ✨
