“Age is just a number,” Dorothy Hoffner told a cheering crowd moments after touching the ground Sunday at Skydive Chicago in Ottawa.

After her record-breaking jump, Hoffner’s mind quickly turned to the future and other challenges. The lifelong Chicago woman, who’s set to turn 105 in December, said she might take a ride in a hot-air balloon next.

“I’ve never been in one of those,” she said.

A 104-year-old Chicago woman is hoping to be certified as the oldest person to ever skydive after making a tandem jump from 13,500 feet in northern Illinois. The Chicago Tribune reports Dorothy Hoffner told a cheering crowd that “age is just a number” moments after she touched the ground Sunday ...

Illinois Department on Aging, please make real reforms at Adult Protective Services. When APS fails to intervene in elder emotional abuse and isolation, it provides abusers a powerful tool for exerting undue influence, literally taking our frail and functionally dependent elders legally hostage. It silences family members trying to protect their elder's maximum possible independence and prevent financial exploitation.
Am a senior with a disability also a customer. of AT&T for over 30 years. Recently AT&T shut off my landline service without my authorization. The bill is paid through Low Income service for $10.00, and OOMA. ATT was instructed to port my landline for a $10..oo monthly fee. NOW, I have 0 landline. Who authorized this this transaction to disconnect my land telephone ???No one can explain!!
Thanks for scheduling the next meeting of the Illinois Elder Abuse Task Force for 9:30-11:00 a.m. Wed., July 15. Now, please put elder isolation on the agenda. Isolation, whether de facto or deliberate, is baked into all , just like elder functional dependence and frailty. The difference is, we can do something about isolation.
Illinois Department on Aging, when will you schedule the next meeting of the Illinois Elder Abuse Task Force?
Illinois Department on Aging, when is the next meeting of the Illinois Task Force on Elder Abuse--and will abuse by family members, the most common kind, finally be on the agenda, along with elder isolation, the family abuser's most common tactic?
Can you please post my article that ran in The State-Journal Register, the Peoria Journal-Star and the Rockford Register Star? Here it is:
I Would like to take this Opportunity to say a great big "THANK YOU" to a couple of people who work at the IDOA. Kelly D. And Christian F. In Suite 100. Springfield, IL @ 1 Natural Resources Way. Without the two of you My Clients probably would be not so happy with me. You both are the BEST of the BEST. Thank you again and GOD SPEED!!
The Illinois Department on Aging can protect us!
I need to know what Medicare Part D program you recommend for a disabled male not 65 y/o and low income. Thank you
