Robin has successfully prosecuted violent crimes including first degree murder, aggravated domestic violence, aggravated DUIs and cases involving financial exploitation and abuse of our elderly. She is a former Chief Administrative Law Judge for the State of Illinois, prosecutor for the Illinois Secretary of State, and a public defender. She is a graduate of the University of Illinois and the Sout
hern Illinois University School of Law. Robin is currently an elected Trustee on the Springfield Park Board where she has served since 2013. Robin also serves on the Senior Services Board, the Sangamon County Senior Alliance, and the Regional Fatality Review and M-Teams, providing legal assistance for senior and disabled individuals who have been abused and neglected in our community. Robin also serves on the Heart of Wes Barr foundation and has previously served on the boards of the St. Agnes Catholic Grade School, the YWCA and the Boys and Girls Club. She and her son, John, live in Springfield where he is currently a freshman at Illinois Wesleyan University. Robin is seeking to be elected to Sangamon County Resident Circuit Court Judge for the 7th Circuit of the State of Illinois to fill the vacancy of the Honorable John Belz. The election will be held on November 8, 2022 with a Primary Election on June 28, 2022. Pursuant to Illinois Supreme Court Rules and the Election Code, a campaign committee for Robin Schmidt has, or will be formed, and all reports will be on file with the Illinois State Board of Elections.
