Today we wish a very special 30th birthday to Mikey, the man with the big personality and the tiny birthday crown! 🎉🎉🎉

You can find Mikey in his stall in the big red barn to wish him happy birthday all week long! You may hear him braying out a birthday song across the whole zoo, and he always loves eating a grain cone to celebrate 👀

Happy birthday, Mikey! We wish you the happiest day and many, many more.

Farrah, our Bactrian camel, is here to wish you a happy ! Do you know the difference between a Bactrian and a Dromedary camel?

A Bactrian camel has two humps (like Farrah!) while a Dromedary camel has only one hump. Bactrian camels are native to central Asia and are adapted to survive harsh temperature variations from scorching summers to freezing winters. Dromedary camels originated in the Middle East and Africa and are adapted to thrive in the hot and arid conditions of the desert.

Happy Father's Day to all the dads, stepdads, grandpas and father figures, both human and animal!

Today is and we are beyond appreciative of The Zoo’s veterinarian, Dr. King. 🐾 🩺 💉

Here, Dr. King is seen providing a full work up on one of our timber wolves. In addition to providing monthly preventative care, she is always at the ready to advise our animal care team in emergencies and provide learning opportunities for staff during her visits.

Thank you, Dr. King, for all you do for our animals and staff!

Thanks to a grant from our friends at Highland Street Foundation, admission is now free for everyone on Father's Day, not just dads! Come enjoy a free, family fun day at The Zoo in Forest Park on June 21.

A reminder that we WILL be busy and kindly ask all of our guests to be courteous and respectful to Zoo staff, our animals and other guests and to follow all Zoo rules.

*Parking is not included and costs $3 for Mass. plates and $5 for out-of-state plates, cash only.*

Jalen Brunson better watch out; Freya's on the rise! 🏀🦝

Keeper B has been using clicker training to teach Freya how to dunk. She started by teaching Freya the commands "basket" and "ball". Next, they will begin to put the two commands together, encouraging Freya to put the ball in the basket.

We came, we saw, we did Pilates at the zoo 💪😤 A huge thank you to everyone who came out for Zoo Pilates today!

After a class with Emily Coderre of Pursuit Pilates Club, everyone got to celebrate National Skunk Day by meeting Dottie, one of The Zoo’s adorable animal ambassadors! Dottie came to The Zoo in 2025 after being kept as an illegal pet. Due to her over-habituation to humans, Dottie can no longer live on her own in the wild. But we love taking care of her at The Zoo, where she teaches visitors all about striped skunks and eats as much bell pepper as she can hold 🦨🫑

Keep your eyes open for more yoga/Pilates classes at The Zoo coming soon! 👀

Thank you to everyone who entered our Capybara Encounter giveaway. Victoria Rose was selected as the lucky winner from the THOUSANDS of comments we received! 👏 We are so grateful for the excitement surrounding the introduction of our two new residents and invite you to come see them during our open hours (open daily, 10-4).

The encounters with our two seven-month-old capys will start this Monday, June 15, and there's still limited space to join us during their inaugural week! Encounters run daily at 11 and 1 and need to be booked in advance to ensure space. The cost is $60/person + admission. Participants must be at least 3 years old.

Our Keeper-in-Training summer program for teens only has a handful of spots left! KITs assist our animal care staff with daily husbandry duties, like making diets, creating enrichment, cleaning enclosures and socializing with the animals. In addition to a behind-the-scenes look at the life of a zookeeper, KITs get to explore Forest Park, participate in STEAM activities, assist in The Zoo's education initiatives and more!
