Meet Amy Ewan, RN
😎Amy Ewan is a Registered Nurse and educator who brings a diverse blend of clinical experience, academic achievement, leadership, and a genuine passion for helping others learn and grow.
Amy’s own educational journey began right here at Ozarks Technical Community College, where she graduated from both the Practical Nursing (PN) and Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) programs. In 2012, she was honored by the Springfield News-Leader as the Nursing Student of the Year Scholarship recipient. She continued her education by earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and a Master of Arts in Intelligence Studies, graduating Summa Cum Laude.
Her nursing career has provided her with experience in a variety of settings, including skilled nursing and midwifery. As a nurse supervisor in a skilled nursing facility, Amy helped support the development of clinical skills for Certified Nurse Assistants (CNAs). She also worked in a midwifery clinic, where she had the opportunity to support families and facilitate positive, unmedicated childbirth experiences.
Amy believes that learning extends far beyond the classroom. Outside of healthcare and education, she enjoys helping others develop new skills through mixed martial arts instruction, coaching city league youth sports, and community involvement. She also served for four years as the Advancement Chair for her local Cub Scout pack. These experiences have strengthened her passion for mentorship, encouragement, teamwork, and helping others recognize their own potential.
Amy’s academic interests include human cognition, adaptability, and the ways people navigate an increasingly complex technological and information environment. She brings these interests into her approach to education by encouraging students to think critically, remain adaptable, develop strong clinical judgment, and approach challenges with confidence.
Most importantly, Amy believes that healthcare education is about more than learning skills and passing exams. It is about developing compassionate, capable, and confident healthcare professionals who are prepared to learn throughout their careers. She is excited to support students along that journey and to help them discover what they are capable of achieving.
