⚠️ UPDATE: ACCORDING TO CAMERAS AND WITNESS IN THE AREA , the vehicle turns down St. Rose Road on 8/26/26 around 3:30pm. We want to identify this vehicle. Please check your Doorbell footage from around 3:25pm to 3:45pm on Bardstown Road and St. Rose Road in Springfield, Kentucky. You all are great at helping us! Thank you in advance!

🚨 CRITICAL SAFETY WARNING: STOP FOR SCHOOL BUSES

During peak traffic, an incident unfolded on Bardstown Road that could have easily turned into an unimaginable tragedy. This occurred 08/26/2026 around 3:30pm. We want to identify this vehicle.

A school bus was completely stopped with its red flashing lights activated and the stop arm fully extended to let a student off. As the child stepped out and began walking safely across the front of the bus to cross Bardstown Road, an oncoming motorist completely disregarded the law and blew right past the flashing bus, coming dangerously close to striking the child.

This reckless behavior is entirely unacceptable and puts innocent young lives at direct risk. In Kentucky, traffic in both directions must stop on a two-lane road when a school bus has its stop arm deployed.

Deputies will be actively be monitoring school zones and bus routes. Please slow down, pay attention, and look out for our kids. A few seconds saved is not worth a child's life.

Sheriff Jerry Pinkston Apprehended Wanted Person in Washington County (Victim under the age of 18)

For several weeks, multiple law enforcement agencies had been actively pursuing Garrett Lee Patterson, who was wanted on multiple active arrest warrants. Patterson had been evading law enforcement agencies for weeks after finding out he had multiple outstanding warrants. Sheriff Pinkston gathered intel on the subject who was eluding capture. On August 25, 2026, Sheriff Pinkston, Chief Deputy Davis and Deputy Beaty arrived at Kirsch Lane in order to serve two Mercer County Warrants and one Washington County Warrant. Sheriff Pinkston and deputies established a perimeter around the residence. At approximately 8:10am, Garrett Lee Patterson emerged from the rear of the residence, saw the Sheriff and Deputies and attempted to exit the property on foot through the back yard. Patterson attempted to flee from the rear exit of the residence. Deputy Trevor Beaty and Sheriff Jerry Pinkston apprehended and detained Patterson at 8:14am. Patterson was taken into custody without further incident.

Garrett Lee Patterson, age 41, is currently lodged at the Marion County Detention Center on the following three warrants:

1. Forthwith Order of Arrest: Mercer County. (Victim under the age of 18)

2. Complaint Warrant: Violation of Kentucky EPO/DVO – Mercer Co. (the defendant unlawfully attempted to interact with victim via social media and offender directly interacted with victim via comments on Facebook).

3. Bench Warrant- Washington County: Violation of a Kentucky EPO/DVO
