Hermann Area Literacy Advocates - HALA

Hermann Area Literacy Advocates - HALA HALA supports participation in Dolly Parton's Imagination Library for children who live within the G Eligibility is determined solely by age and residency.

HALA is a non-profit organization formed to locally support Dolly Parton's Imagination Library for children within the Gasconade County R-I School District. The Imagination Library is a non-profit organization that provides preschool aged children with carefully selected, age appropriate books each month. There is no cost or obligation to the families for participation. Studies show that early exp

osure to reading increases literacy rates not only in the children who are read to but also in their caregivers. Furthermore, children who are frequently read to from birth on have a greater gain in language, math and cognitive skills earlier than children of the same age who are not read to as frequently. Reading to your child is the best way to prepare them for school. Literacy exposure could not be easier as the books in the Imagination Library program are mailed directly to the child's home. This program is funded entirely by tax deductible donations, which may be made to "HALA" in care of the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, a 501(c)3 organization.
