🏆 CHAMPIONS! 🏆

Congratulations to the Effingham County Sports and Recreation Services 8U softball team on capturing the GRPA Class A/B State Championship today in Dalton!

The team put together an impressive tournament run, opening play Tuesday with a 15-0 shutout of Lee County before powering past Lyons 22-9 on Wednesday. It lost to Lyons 10-2 later Wednesday, setting up today’s winner-take-all championship game that Effingham County’s girls won 16-8.

Their outstanding teamwork, determination, and hard work paid off with a state championship trophy. Way to represent Effingham County on the biggest stage!

We’re excited to kick off a summer full of creativity, curiosity, and outdoor fun at Baker Pond! Our Young Explorer Program meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM, and each day brings a hands‑on activity your child will love.

Get creative and learn about one of nature's most impressive hunters at our next Young Explorers session!

During "Making Feathered Friends," participants will use torn paper and glue to create a textured mosaic of a majestic bird of prey while exploring the beauty of wildlife through art.

🥎 Softball skill development is in full swing at the Clarence E. Morgan Complex!

Young athletes are spending today sharpening their fundamentals, building confidence and having fun during Effingham County Sports and Recreation Services' Summer Softball Camp. Led by D.J. Wilson of Elite Sports and Brittany Novickis of A2B Mechanics, the three-day camp continues through Wednesday, helping players develop their game one pitch, swing and catch at a time.

🌼 Young Explorers: Outdoor Activities Recap!

Thursday’s session brought big science energy as our 15 Young Explorers dissected flowers to uncover petals, pistils, stamens, and all the hidden structures that help plants grow. Lots of “look what I found” moments, lots of curiosity, and plenty of outdoor wonder.

🏀 That’s a wrap on the Effingham County Summer Basketball Camp — and it was a slam dunk success!

Over three days of action packed, three hour training sessions at the Clarence E. Morgan Complex, campers pushed their limits under the guidance of Brewton-Parker Christian University assistant coach Deon Williams. From hard work and hustle to giving their best effort — and having fun every step of the way — these young athletes showed what dedication looks like.
