Grandview Residents,

The GVPD is actively working towards a more Community Oriented Policing Strategy (COPS).

Definition: COPS is a philosophy and organizational strategy whereby law enforcement cooperates with the community groups and citizens in producing safety and security.

Three key components: 1. Developing community partnerships. Example: Officer 100% we see you hanging out at Circle K.

2. Engaging in problem solving with the community. Example: Thank you Book of Faces, we were able to successfully have Jr. pay for damages he caused, which is what the vendor wanted.

3. Implementing community policing organizational features. Example: Our officers have been provided a list of expectations so they are aware of the GVPDs priorities and expected behavior.

Ultimately, Grandview, we hear you. We hear how it was back in he 80s and 90s. However, law enforcement must grow and change with the times. This does not mean we will allow citizens to break the laws (without consequences) but it does mean if you are going 2 miles over the speed limit, we will probably let that slide because it's not worth us putting that donut down.

The GVPD is actively hiring for Full-time (2) and Part-time (2) positions.

Requirements:
-Pass a background check (if it's a felony lite arrest, never charged, and 5 plus years ago, we can talk)
-Possess a valid FOID Card (or apply and receive one prior to attending the Academy).
-Pass the P.O.W.E.R test.
-Pass an ILETSB certified Academy.

Benefits:
-Pay= $24.00-$26.00 hr (based upon experience). OT opportunities will be available.
-Medical, Vision, Dental.
-Vacation time.
-Sick time.
-Simple IRA plan (3% match) - ability to roll over if you accept other employment.

Memorial Day is awesomeness

GVPD nabbed up a super nice gun from a gentleman who's FOID was revoked.

Then, ISP showed up and was like "hold my beer."

Grandview Residents,

Today, we were out and about making a few traffic stops. There was a disturbing trend of passengers getting loud and confrontational before we even introduced ourselves.

Please just mind your business (see below) unless you have a legitimate question, concern, or query. In that case, please proceed in a calm and rationale manner.

Grandview Residents,

Today, we had a resident file a Deceptive Practices and Forgery police report.

An enterprising entrepreneur forged checks on behalf of the resident and then proceeded to write a check out to himself and cash it.

First time, it was cashed (small monetary amount). The bank photocopied his DL ( awesome job).

Second time, he went for big money. Bank said nopity nope (awesome job).

Bank called the resident, explained the situation. Bank requires a police report.

Grand Entrance: The Grandview Police Department.

The resident informed us the Teller can positively identify the Suspect.

GVPD: That's awesome.

Contact the bank to get a witness statement.

Bank: Nope, we ain't snitching unless a Judge orders it.

GVPD: That's not awesome.

Grandview Residents,

We know this is not going to be a crowd favorite, but you CANNOT ride a mini-bike on the roadway.

The crowd: We will just ride on the side walk.

Illinois Law: No you won't, that's illegal too.

The crowd: But, if we can't ride in the roadway, and we can't ride on the sidewalk where can we ride?

Illinois Law: Don't care...just not in the roadway and not on the sidewalk. Your backyard is legal.
