Troop 6 encompasses Adams, Brown, Cass, Christian, Logan, Mason, Menard, Morgan, Pike, Sangamon, Schuyler, and Scott counties. Headquarters are located in Pittsfield and Springfield. Troopers in Troop 6 patrol interstates I-55, I-7

2, I-155, I-172, as well as all the State and U.S. highways within the 12 counties. In addition to normal patrol functions, ISP Troopers work throughout the Troop addressing gun and drug trafficking within local communities and on the interstates. ISP responsibilities include traffic enforcement, criminal patrol, commercial motor vehicle enforcement, and assisting the public on Illinois roadways.

SPRINGFIELD โ€“ Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) Zone 4 Major Crimes agents arrested 26-year-old Justin Shull of Springfield, IL, for 10 counts of Possession of Child Po*******hy (Class 2 Felony).

In September 2024, ISP special agents began an internet crimes against children investigation in the Springfield area. During the investigation, ISP investigators assigned to the Office of the Illinois Attorney General Internet Crimes against Children Task Force (ICAC) gathered digital evidence indicating Shull possessed child s*xual abuse material at his residence in Springfield. On June 18, 2025, ISP special agents arrested Shull and transported him to the Sangamon County Jail. There is no additional information at this time.

EDINBURG โ€“ Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) special agents arrested 44-year-old William C. Wanless of Edinburg, IL for two counts of Possession of Child Po*******hy with the Intent to Disseminate (Class X Felony) and one count of Possession of Child Po*******hy with the Intent to Disseminate (Class 1 Felony).

On March 12, 2025, ISP special agents initiated a child s*xual abuse material investigation. During the investigation, ISP special agents assigned to the Office of the Illinois Attorney General Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force gathered digital evidence indicating that Wanless possessed child s*xual abuse material at his residence in Christian County.

On June 12, 2025, ISP special agents, the Edinburg Police Department, and the Office of Illinois Attorney General executed a search warrant at Wanlessโ€™s residence and took him into custody. The Christian County Stateโ€™s Attorneyโ€™s Office filed the charges above. Wanless is being held at the Christian County Jail pending a detention hearing.
