Troop 6 encompasses Adams, Brown, Cass, Christian, Logan, Mason, Menard, Morgan, Pike, Sangamon, Schuyler, and Scott counties. Headquarters are located in Pittsfield and Springfield. Troopers in Troop 6 patrol interstates I-55, I-7

2, I-155, I-172, as well as all the State and U.S. highways within the 12 counties. In addition to normal patrol functions, ISP Troopers work throughout the Troop addressing gun and drug trafficking within local communities and on the interstates. ISP responsibilities include traffic enforcement, criminal patrol, commercial motor vehicle enforcement, and assisting the public on Illinois roadways.

Illinois State Police Troop 6 is requesting the publicโ€™s assistance in identifying the driver of a black Kawasaki ZX-6R motorcycle involved in multiple reckless driving incidents and fleeing/eluding law enforcement this morning in Cass and Sangamon Counties.

The motorcycle was last observed traveling at extremely high speeds while passing vehicles on the shoulder, disregarding traffic control devices, and creating a serious danger to the public.

The highly structured week-long residency camp is designed for 15โ€“17-year-old teenagers and emphasizes the principles of self-respect and service to others, while promoting positive rapport and interactions between cadets and law enforcement. Cadets will attend classroom instruction and participate in physical activities focused on leadership development, team building principles, and other life-enhancing skills. Other local law enforcement agencies, as well as local civic organizations, have partnered with ISP to provide engagement and mentorship opportunities to develop lifelong connections with young people.

The camp will take place June 21-26, 2026 at Camp Lincoln Military Academy in Springfield, IL.

SPRINGFIELD โ€“ The Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Internal Investigation is investigating a traffic crash involving an ISP Trooper in Sangamon County.

On April 25, 2026, at approximately 2:30 a.m., a Trooper was traveling south in the middle lane on South 6th Street approaching the green light at the intersection of Linton Street in Springfield. A pedestrian was reportedly bent down in the roadway when the Trooper's squad car struck the pedestrian. The Trooper rendered aid until EMS arrived on scene. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital and later pronounced deceased.

In accordance with the Police and Community Relations Improvement Act (50 ILCS 727) and the Illinois State Police Law (20 ILCS 2605), Special Agents of the Illinois State Police Division of Internal Investigation are investigating this incident.

This investigation is open and ongoing. ISP is currently processing evidence and conducting interviews. Upon completion of the investigation, all evidence and facts will be submitted for review to the Sangamon County Stateโ€™s Attorney's Office. No additional information is available at this time.

๐’๐๐‘๐ˆ๐๐†๐…๐ˆ๐„๐‹๐ƒ โ€“ Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) Special Agents arrested 88-year-old Robert Crowe of Jacksonville, Illinois for one count of Dissemination of Child Sexual Abuse Material (Class X Felony) and one count of Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material (Class 2 Felony).

On October 15, 2025, ISP DCI Zone 4 Special Agents initiated an investigation after learning a subject was possessing and disseminating child sexual abuse material. โ€‹ During the investigation, ISP Special Agents assigned to the Office of the Illinois Attorney General Internet Crimes against Children Task Force (ICAC) gathered digital evidence indicating that Crowe possessed and disseminated child sexual abuse material at his residence in Morgan County.

On April 23, 2026, the Illinois State Police Special Agents arrested Crowe and charged him with the above-mentioned charges. Crowe was transported to the Morgan County Jail. Crowe was later released from custody after his first court appearance and given a Notice to Appear in court.
