One of Top Hat O'Ryan's favorite parts of this year's Illinois State Fair was the Route 66 Experience. We're happy to join the Route 66 Monarch Festival! A celebration of the Illinois' state insect, and everyone's favorite garden visitor, the Monarch Butterfly! We'll be joining the Illinois State Museum, Illinois Department of Natural Resources, and The Illinois State Fairgrounds Route 66 Experience for a day of games, activities, giveaways, and an evening screening of the Disney-Pixar Movie "Cars".

Jefferson location, making preventive care easier and more accessible for our employees. We’re grateful to everyone who stopped by and took advantage of this on‑site resource. Thank you for continuing to support and engage in initiatives that promote a healthier workforce, and healthier communities, across Illinois. 🩺

What an incredible run at this year’s Illinois State Fair! 🎉

A huge thank you to all our partners who joined us this year— University of Illinois Springfield Orion Lab, DoIT Cybersecurity, DoIT Accessibility, the Illinois Assistive Technology Program - IATP, Google Cloud, the Learning Technology Center, and the DoIT Illinois Century Network. Your collaboration helped make our presence at the fair stronger than ever.

And to everyone who stopped by our booths, tried out demos, asked questions, or just said hello—thank you! We loved connecting with visitors from across Illinois and sharing the work DoIT is doing to support technology statewide.

The Tram Cam made its debut last year and continues to help fairgoers navigate the Illinois State Fairgrounds. 🧭 Developed by Dean Haukap of DoIT Web Services, it uses GPS tracking to show the tram’s real-time location so visitors know exactly where to hop on.

As we wrap up Tram Cam tracking for this year’s fair, our colorful butter cow took a ride to help highlight the feature. You can follow the tram route on the Illinois State Fair website and even have the tram drop you off at the DoIT booth in the Governor’s Tent.

While you’re there, stop in and collect your own colorful cow by using the code word “STEAM.” 🌈

💡Our featured Generation Innovator today is Margaret Burroughs, "The Visionary of Art & Culture." Burroughs founded the The DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center, using artistic creativity and education to preserve history and inspire generations.

Day nine of the Illinois State Fair has wrapped! ✨ Thanks to everyone who stopped by the DoIT booth today to take on the laser maze and explore AI creative storytelling with the DoIT-ICN team. It was great seeing so many visitors jump into hands‑on tech fun.

Tomorrow is the final day of the fair! Join us in the Governor’s Tent for hands‑on STEAM activity books, fun puzzles, and brain‑teasing challenges designed to spark curiosity and creativity.

DoIT Teams across Web Services, LAN Services, Network, EUC and Security collaborate with the Illinois Department of Agriculture and others throughout the fairgrounds to deliver technical infrastructure that is essential to the fairgoers experience.

We went behind-the-scenes with DoIT-LAN Services Field Operators as they setup for this year's Illinois State Fair. LAN Services Field Operators install and maintain the network which provides wireless access to most of the fairgrounds for the 11-day event. Their work supports technology at the senior center, grandstand, coliseum, agency and vendor tents, and most other major buildings. As we prepare to wrap the Illinois State Fair 2026 season tomorrow, thank you to all the members of that contribute to this great experience for Illinois residents and beyond!
