Passing a stopped school bus when the red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended is against the law. Drivers in both directions are required to stop, except when the roadway is divided by a physical median, such as a concrete barrier or grass divider.

Violating this law in Tennessee can lead to a fine and add 8 points to your driver's license.

The Sheriff's Office has been made aware of concerns regarding an individual checking door cameras at different homes throughout the county. Deputies have made contact with the individual and the company he states he works for. We have verified both the employee's credentials and the company's licensing.

The company, Riosul Properties, is hired by mortgage companies. They are to report back to the mortgage company whether the home:

*Appears occupied or vacant
*Has electricity
*Has any signs of major damage

The company has advised that its employees are supposed to leave a door hanger explaining why they were on the property. They will be following up with their employees to ensure the notification process is being followed.

🚨False 911 Home Invasion Call🚨

On August 2nd, 2026, at approximately 4:00am, deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a home invasion on Drake Road in Cedar Hill, TN. The caller, Alec Paine (age 22), stated that two males had broken into his residence, and he was hiding in his bedroom. Deputies immediately responded, and Alec Paine stated the suspects had fled into a nearby cornfield. Deputies deployed a K-9 unit and a drone to conduct an extensive search; however, there were no signs of the suspects.

During further investigation, Alec Paine confessed to investigators that he had fabricated the home invasion and placed a false 911 call to elicit sympathy from his recently estranged girlfriend. The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office will be presenting this case to the Grand Jury for formal charges.

The wishes all students, teachers, school staff, and families a safe, successful, and exciting school year. Let's work together to keep every child safe from the first day to the last. 💚

Remember:
🚸Follow the designated speed limit of the school zones.
🛑 Do not pass a school bus that is stopped with its red lights flashing.
👀 Pay extra attention to roadways as there will be an increase in traffic.
🚦 Commute times to and from work may increase. Plan ahead to leave earlier or find additional routes.

🚌 School Starts Tomorrow! 📚

Tomorrow marks the first day of school for many students across Robertson County. As our buses hit the roads and children head back to the classroom, we ask everyone to help make their journey a safe one.

Please remember:
🚸 Slow down in school zones and obey posted speed limits.
🛑 Stop for school buses when red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended.
👀 Watch for children walking, biking, and crossing streets—especially near schools, neighborhoods, and bus stops.
📵 Put away distractions and stay focused behind the wheel.

A few extra moments of patience can make all the difference.
