Do you know someone who’s been thinking about joining the Army and is worried about student loans?
The Regular Army Loan Repayment Program (RA LRP) may help eligible new recruits receive up to $65,000 (less tax) in student loan repayment assistance as part of their enlistment contract.
Before signing, here are a few important things to know:
- RA LRP is a recruiting incentive for eligible new soldiers
- It is not available for prior service soldiers
- The Army does not take over your loans
- Payments are taxable income reported on a DFAS W-2
- Only qualifying loan principal is covered over three years of honorable service
- You cannot enroll in RA LRP after joining the Army (RA LRP must be written on initial enlistment contract)
To confirm enrollment, check your Initial Enlistment Contract DA Form 3286 Annex B.
