Update 7:45 pm: Please keep "Hope" as she was affectionately named by Officer Soto, in your thoughts this evening.
She is stable for the moment and the ER doctor is cautiously optimistic that she is going to be ok. A big thank you to the ER doctor and staff for their care and assistance today. We know they had an exceptionally busy day and we are grateful for the time, attention, and compassion they gave to Hope. Their continued partnership, guidance, and dedication are deeply appreciated.
We are so incredibly grateful for your inquiries, well wishes, donations, and offers to help. Your support for Hope and all of the animals in our care is appreciated. Knowing that the community is behind us allows us to continue doing everything we can to provide animals with the compassionate care they deserve.
Hope is not yet ready for foster, but we are ready always looking for foster homes- particularly homes willing to foster dogs with medical needs or dogs whose behavior we need time to learn more about. If you are a unicorn home with adults only and no other pets, please reach out to learn more about fostering.

Update for clarity: Thomas J. O'Connor is providing care, which is why the dog is currently at the ER. We consistently go above and beyond basic standards of care to ensure the animals' needs are met and that they are treated humanely and compassionately. We are able to provide this care because of the Foundation for TJO Animals, our community, and your ongoing support. We are incredibly grateful for your generosity which allows us to continue going above and beyond for animals in our care.
However, larger medical decisions—particularly those involving surgical intervention —should ultimately be made by the owners, as they are the ones responsible for determining what is appropriate for their animal's ongoing care and know their pet best.

*This dog needs her owners urgently*
Officers received reports that she was hit by a car very early this morning. She was not located until several hours later on Boland Way in Springfield and then rushed to the emergency room.
Her microchip is not registered.
If you recognize her please call 413-781-1484 x1 ASAP as her condition is emergent and she needs her family for decision making.
