It’s TODDLE TUESDAY, and this week we’re shining a spotlight on our OUTSTANDING OWLS!

Each month, we recognize two students from each class who are nominated by their teacher or classmates for meeting and exceeding the expectations of our OWL Code or monthly IB Learner Profile attribute. During our weekly Rountree Rallies, we explore these expectations and what they look like in action at school.

Our September Outstanding Owls were recognized for being SAFE and COMMUNICATORS! We celebrated this week with ice cream sundaes, sunshine, and plenty of smiles. Our Outstanding Owls also voted on next month’s treat: snow cones!

Check out our September Outstanding Owls, we’re proud of the example they set for our school community!

In October, our Owls will focus on being RESPECTFUL and OPEN-MINDED! 💚

It’s TODDLE TUESDAY! Today, we’re highlighting how hands-on experiences bring our Units of Inquiry to life at Rountree, an IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) school!

Our third graders explored animal adaptations with special visitors from Dickerson Park Zoo—including a real OWL! They also observed the life cycle of painted lady butterflies before releasing them in our garden last week.

The learning continued this week as fifth grade welcomed visitors from the Art Museum and fourth grade took a field trip to the Discovery Center!

These experiences connect classroom learning to the world around us, giving students opportunities to observe, ask questions, and make discoveries.

🏡 At-home challenge: Ask your child, “What are you learning about in your Unit of Inquiry? What special experiences have helped you explore it?”

It’s TODDLE Tuesday and time for a Rountree facebook post--this Tuesday we are focused on-- WE ARE PYP!

Did you know your student attends one of only three Primary Years Programme schools in Springfield Public Schools? Rountree, Field, and Boyd provide a unique learning experience where students ask questions, make connections across subjects, and take an active role in their learning through their grade level Units of Inquiry.

One important part of being a PYP school is providing our teachers with additional time to thoughtfully plan and create these learning experiences. This includes six early-release days throughout the school year. The early release calendar is linked HERE: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ckk0Sz2B22b7OFOXMW7PYNJdrL8GaAd9/view

REMINDER: Our first early-release day is TOMORROW—Wednesday, September 9. Students will dismiss at 12:20 p.m.

Check out this video sharing with you WHY PYP is important to us in Springfield Public Schools, Springfield, MO.

It’s Tuesday, which means it’s time for a Toddle Tuesday and FACEBOOK post!

We are proud to announce that Rountree has earned the Tier 1 PBIS Award of Excellence! Rountree was recognized alongside 216 other schools across the state of Missouri. Our OWL Ambassadors proudly accepted the award and even helped choose where to hang our new banner in the gym. We can’t wait to share it with you at SPSU!

This award reflects our strong Tier 1 PBIS systems and commitment to the OWL Code at Rountree. A special shout-out to our teacher-led PBIS team for all of their hard work last year!

It’s a great day to be an OWL! 💚

What an amazing first week of school at Rountree!

Our week was filled with learning new routines, sharing smiles, and building meaningful connections with students and staff. We wrapped it all up with one of our favorite Rountree traditions—First Week Popsicles!

A huge thank-you to our fabulous PTA for providing the popsicles and helping us celebrate a fantastic start to the year. It’s going to be an amazing year at Rountree!
