Happy 80th Anniversary, NACD!

It was on this day in 1946 that 19 conservation district leaders met in Chicago and formed the National Association of Soil Conservation District Governing Officials. The name was shortened to NACD in 1962.

What E.C. McArthur, the association's first president, said in 1946 about the purpose of districts and NACD still rings true in our work today.

🎃 Pearson Farms | Robertson County, TN
🎃 Established 1884 | Designated Century Farm January 2026

Founded by Andrew John and Addie Fisher Benton, Pearson Farms has been part of Robertson County's agricultural heritage for more than 140 years. Early generations produced soybeans, wheat, cattle, hogs and chickens while building a legacy of hard work and stewardship across the family's 201-acre farm.

Today, John and Rebecca Pearson continue that tradition alongside multiple generations of the family.
While the operation has evolved over the years, the farm is now known for producing watermelons and pumpkins, and the family's agricultural impact extends nationwide through the Orlinda Melon Company.
