Way to go, Ms. Hodgin!

Library Manager Ms. Hodgin is reading “Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief” to 4th graders at Centennial Elementary – and they can’t get enough!

As Ms. Hodgin put down the book for the day, the class erupted in cries of dismay that they would have to wait until their next library special to find out what happens next. One student was excited to share that they pictured what was happening in their head, while another noted that books without pictures are a great opportunity to engage your imagination.

You may remember that the Percy Jackson series was Ms. Hodgin’s Summer Reading recommendation in August! The Lightning Thief is one of this year’s OBOB books, giving 4th grade plenty of chances to dive into the story – dozens of Centennial 4th graders are already signed up to participate in OBOB this year, this highest number of any grade level in the school.

We loved seeing these Blue Jays get excited about reading!

A huge shoutout to our Centennial Blue Jays who completed 20 or more laps at this year's Jog-a-Thon!

That's a lot of running, determination, and Blue Jay spirit! We're so proud of these students (and teachers!) for going the extra mile (or three!).

Way to go, Blue Jays! 🐦💙

Here's the latest from Miss Madi in the Library:

"Week 5 in the library! It’s been great seeing kids grab classics like Kat Kong and Dogzilla, Goosebumps, and The Boxcar Children. Our new shelf is already boosting circulation, and The Future Book is a total hit—the kids are obsessed with the new lingo! Plus, our One Book, One School titles have arrived!

'You smell like a baby✌🏻(ask your student what that means)"
