(Middle Fork Ranger District) Forest Service Road #2302200 will be closed for two weeks beginning today as a contractor conducts roadside vegetation maintenance with heavy equipment. Signage is posted at both ends of the closure. Contact the Middle Fork Ranger District for alternate routes.

(Middle Fork Ranger District) The Deep Creek Fire emergency closure order that had been in place for public and firefighter safety has been rescinded.

Please use caution if visiting or traveling through the burned area as post fire hazards remain.

Helicopter logging operations are underway on the Dry Beard Forest Management Project located near Tom Creek and Log Creek on the Detroit Ranger District.

The project, which includes various forest management activities to reduce fuel loading, is being implemented in partnership with the Oregon Department of Forestry under the Good Neighbor Authority (GNA). The total project size is 420 acres, with 50 acres planned for helicopter yarding.

Logging operations are expected to continue through the month of October. Helicopters will only fly during daylight hours and during favorable weather conditions. Activities may be visible from Highway 22. Please also be aware of increased westbound truck traffic between Detroit and Idanha and potential intermittent delays on Forest Service Road 1003.

(Middle Fork Ranger District) Fire managers are planning to conduct a prescribed burn October 13 – 14 in the Armet Timber Sale area if weather and fuel conditions are favorable. The units are located west of Westfir, OR.

The treatments are an imperative tool for fire managers that help reduce the threat of future fire and create healthy stands.

Smoke may be visible from Highway 58, as well as nearby trails and roads. Signage will be present, but please be cautious when traveling on the highway and nearby Forest roads.

(McKenzie River Ranger District) A temporary closure of Forest Service Road 1500 (Blue River Road) will occur on October 5 from milepost 9 to milepost 12 due to operations at a nearby rock pit. A portion of Forest Service Road 1516 from milepost 0 to milepost 2 will also be temporarily closed.
