The Springfield Police Department would like to thank the Bridegan Foundation and the Bridegan family for developing the Bexley Box program and generously funding the donation of a box to our department. The program was inspired by Bexley Bridegan, who was just two years old when she witnessed the murder of her father, Jared, and then spent several hours in the care of law enforcement. That experience led her mother, Kirsten, to create the Bexley Box so officers would have basic necessities and comfort items available when caring for children during traumatic situations.
Each Bexley Box contains items such as diapers, wipes, snacks, drinks, blankets, stuffed animals, and activities for children. While we hope we never have to use it, we know that having these items available can make a frightening and uncertain moment a little easier for a child in our care. We are incredibly grateful to the Bridegan Foundation and the Bridegan family for turning an unimaginable tragedy into a resource that allows law enforcement agencies like ours to better care for the youngest and most vulnerable members of our community.
