DATES TO REMEMBER
Part 1 of 2

January
The assessment form is mailed in early January. Whatever you own on January 1st each year is the basis for your Personal Property bill. Personal Property taxes are not prorated, which means you still pay for the entire year for each item owned on the first of the year.

March 1st
Your assessment list is due to the Assessor’s Office by March 1st. Haven’t received one yet? Stop by room 39 in the Historic Courthouse to submit in person.

What if the billing information for Personal Property taxes is not found on our website www.countycollector.com?

This usually means that the Assessor's Office has not received the assessment form for that year since the assessment creates the bill.

If no personal property bill information is available on the Collector's website, please go to the Assessor's Office located at 940 N. Boonville, Room 39 in the basement to get caught up on your assessment(s)—they do require your signature to assess.

This will immediately create the bill which can be picked up and paid in the same building.

2026 bills will be available online November 1st!

The Greene County Collector's Office is upgrading its software and payment system to better serve residents.

To complete the transition, the office will be closed to the public on Friday, May 1, 2026. Online, phone and in person tax payments will not be available that day. Checks may still be placed in the office drop box.

The new system will use the same software already implemented by the Assessor's Office and is expected to make the process smoother for residents. A new payment provider will also be part of the upgrade.

The office expects to reopen Monday, May 4. Online and phone payments are expected to be available Tuesday, May 5, after existing online payments have cleared.

Anyone who needs a receipt before the closure should visit the Collector's Office in person at 940 N. Boonville Ave., Room 107, at the county’s Historic Courthouse in Springfield.

✦ WAIVERS: TIPS FOR SUCCESS — PART ONE ✦

➤ Be sure all prior‑year taxes are paid in every Missouri county.
A waiver cannot be issued if there is unpaid tax in any Missouri county.

➤ Co‑signing = Co‑titling
Everyone listed as a possible owner must be cleared of tax liability before a waiver can be issued.
* Be ready to provide a 5‑year residence and vehicle history for each person.

➤ Delayed Registration
You are considered the owner as of the purchase date.
If you owned the vehicle on January 1, you may need to assess and possibly pay taxes — even if you have not registered it yet.
