Pride Month is here! We are reminded that challenging harmful narratives is a powerful form of protest. Myth-busting isn’t just education — it’s a way to uplift our communities, center survivors and advocate for a world where every LGBTQ+ survivor feels safe, supported and believed.

At Effingham County Victim Witness Assistance, we know that healing and justice often require a village. While our office provides specialized support, our community is filled with incredible partners, agencies, and organizations dedicated to helping those in need.

What is Toolbox Tuesday?
On Tuesdays, we’ll be "opening the toolbox" to highlight a local resource. Whether it’s housing assistance, mental health support, legal aid, or youth services, we want to ensure you know exactly where to turn when life gets heavy.

Why it Matters:
Connection: Easily find the right organization for your specific needs.
Awareness: Discover programs in Effingham County you might not know exist.
Empowerment: Knowledge is a tool—and we want you to have the best ones available.

This Toolbox Tuesday highlights The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire.
The Mediation Center helps individuals or groups resolve conflicts using a neutral mediator who helps keep the focus on reaching workable agreements. Mediation is confidential and scheduled at the convenience of the parties involved.

Their mission is to provide and promote within the community methods other than litigation for settling disputes. The dispute resolution shall be confidential, inexpensive, prompt and readily accessible to everyone.

In addition to mediation, the Mediation Center provides Co-Parenting lasses, the Family Law Resource Center, and Youth Programs.

Honoring the Brave: A Memorial Day Tribute
This Memorial Day, the Effingham County Victim Witness Assistance Program joins our community in pausing to remember and honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

To the families in our community who carry the weight of a fallen hero: We see you, we honor your sacrifice, and we stand with you.

"Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid. They have earned our undying gratitude. America will never forget their sacrifices." — Harry S. Truman

How We Are Observing
Our office will be closed on Monday, May 25th, as we take this time to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy thanks to the courage of others. We will reopen tomorrow, Tuesday, May 26th at 9AM.

We remain committed to serving those in our community who have been affected by crime, providing the support and advocacy they deserve.

📞 Resources & Support
While our office is closed for the holiday, help is always available for those in crisis. If you are in immediate danger, please dial 911.

Sometimes the most important step is listening. Taking time to listen to the concerns of the people in your life can help them feel safe sharing what they’re experiencing. Your willingness to sit with and listen to someone can ensure we all have More Good Days, Together.

🎓 Congratulations, South Effingham High School Class of 2026!
Today, we trade the Mustang red and navy for caps and gowns. The Effingham County Victim Witness Assistance Program wants to extend a massive congratulations to every graduate of South Effingham High School!

You all crossing that stage is a reminder of the strength, resilience, and bright future of our community. You’ve worked hard, supported one another, and reached this incredible milestone.

To the Graduates:
As you head off to your next adventure—whether it’s college, the military, or starting a career—know that your community is standing behind you. We are so proud of the individuals you have become.

A Note to Our Community
While today is about celebration, we also want to remind our graduates and their families that support is always available. Our mission is to ensure that no one in Effingham County has to navigate difficult times alone.

Celebrate safely, look out for one another, and enjoy this moment!
