It’s getting to be that time of year again! If you are interested in doing cover crops with the district, please contact us as soon as possible.

The program allows us to pay up to $5000 per cooperator annually. Initial or follow up soil tests may be required. Cooperators will need to be registered with FSA (Farm Service Agency) to participate.

Italian ryegrass is a new w**d Missouri producers should be watching closely.

This fast-growing grass is becoming harder to control because of herbicide resistance and can compete with crops for water, nutrients and sunlight, reducing yields in corn, soybean and wheat fields.

The good news? Early identification and proactive management can help keep populations under control. MU Extension specialists recommend using a combination of crop and herbicide rotation, narrow row spacing and effective fall and early-season control strategies to reduce the risk of infestations.
