The fun continued today at the free summer camp for school-aged children with special needs being held at Ruth Edwards Nature Center. 🌞🌿🎨 The activities include art projects, a Master Gardener class, recreational fun and more! The camp is provided by Florissa, TAP, the Park District, University of Illinois Extension, and Illinois Master Naturalist.
April is Autism Acceptance Month, and April 2 is World Autism Day.
According to the Autism Society of America, over 7 million people in the United States are on the autism spectrum.
Celebrate neurodiversity and help increase understanding by participating in educational events throughout the month.
A free panel discussion on "Living the Autistic Life" will take place on Wednesday, April 6, from 12 - 1 p.m.
Autistic self-advocates will lead this discussion about:
* Living with autism
* How they are navigating the challenges
* Successes and empowerment in advocating for themselves

The UIC Department of Disability and Human Development, Illinois LEND and TAP invite caregivers and professionals to join this informational webinar on Wednesday, Nov. 3, from 12 to 1 p.m.
The presentation will cover:
* Different forms of exploitation
* What exploitation may look like in disability populations and in various contexts
* Steps providers can take if they suspect an individual with a disability is being exploited

TAP (The Autism Program of Illinois) and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Autism Clinic are offering a virtual summer camp for rising sophomores, juniors and seniors in high school with autism.
I Ready will give youths interested in attending the U. of I. opportunities to learn about college life from current students.
The free online camp will take place via Zoom on June 22-25.
