Adventure is waiting—and it starts at your library!

Did you know your library can help you start your next outdoor adventure?

Through the Check Out South Dakota State Parks program, library patrons can borrow a South Dakota State Parks pass and explore parks, recreation areas, and nature areas across the state. While you're out exploring, don't forget to participate in Adventure 250—South Dakota's statewide challenge celebrating 250 years of America through outdoor recreation and discovery!

Visit participating state parks and recreation areas, complete fun challenges, and submit your adventures for chances to win weekly prizes throughout the summer. Every adventure also helps you earn points toward Adventure 250 recognition and rewards.

Oh what fun we had today - Summer Reading is underway!

Mindful Movement with Kenzie West - every Wednesday at 9:30 am we will be camping with the dinosaurs. Kenzie has a wonderful program planned for you and your littles!

Today we packed our bags, loaded the balloon, and cruised over the trees to where the dinosaurs roam. We found a triceratops, bronosaurus, and stegosaurus! Then we pitched our tents and gazed at the stars as we listened to the dinosaurs roam.
Remember our mantra - “I am a happy camper!”

Next we read How Do Dinosaurs Choose Their Pets? By Jane Yolen. We learned the best places to pick a pet (NOT the zoo!), and learned what you do to care for a pet.

Then, the Story Timers adopted and customized their very own dinosaur pet. They gave each a classy new look, gave them a name, and took them home with an adoption certificate and instructions for their care. The dinos love it when you read to them, and take them to the park or on car rides, but they don't want to swim in the pool!

Summer reading logs were handed out - this year we will be giving weekly prizes for achieving a goal, so don't wait until then end of the summer, or you won't get many prizes!

Mindful Movement and Summer Story Time welcomes any age who wants to have some fun. We will start each Wednesday at 9:30 am, with a story to follow at 10. There is no charge for the activities. Kenzie does accept free will donations at her programs.

Let's have a wonderful summer, and thank you for your support!

It's that time again! No matter if you are a vacationer or a staycationer, you can read your way through a trip of a lifetime this month!

What do you like to read in the summer - do you stick to your usual, or opt for something summery?

I'm a late planter and maybe some of you are too. If you have any plant tags from your pots, would you save them for the library? For our last storytime in July we will be engineering dinosaurs from different items (recyclosaurus) and these plant tags would make excellent dinosaur spines, spikes, and horns.
I would appreciate if they were wiped off, and you can drop them off at the library anytime.
Thank you!
