Fun Story Time today!

Mindful Movement: The happy campers always make me hungry with visions of the big breakfast they have before they head out on their adventures. Today they found a nest of eggs and did some moves to help them imagine what it would be like to be an egg, and hatch out like the little triceratops. They also saw an ankylosaurus, and Tina the pterodactyl helped them fly back to camp where they relaxed under the stars while listening to a dinosaur lullaby. Kenzie is doing an amazing job with mindful Movement - even the grown ups can imagine camping with the dinosaurs!

Story Time: I picked an ambitious story for today, but I had the perfect pair to tackle it.
Cody (aka: Stalagmite + voices for many other characters) and Kait (aka: Stalactite) unearthed a journey through time.

Long before paper and pen, early man may have had story times while gathered around a campfire, and I shared some pictures of early cave drawings.
Then we went out into the blustery day to make some cave art of our own.
Amid the swirling leaves, many stories unfolded - they are available for viewing until the rain washes them away (could be a while!)

Next week, we will continue our camping adventure with Mindful Movement at 9:30, then at 10:00, we will shift gears to talk about America in anticipation of the 4th and celebrating 250 years (talk about old!). Can’t wait to see you there!

You can still get a reading log, adopt a dinosaur and get a door hanger and an awesome hand made bookmark - stop by and pick them up!

❤️❤️❤️ this story! I met Natasha at Library Institute, listened to the story of her library journey, and continue to be inspired by her. I often think to myself “If it can be done in Doland, it can be done here!”
Let’s work together to add more life to the library!

We learn more about the Cinderella story of the Doland Community Library and a new community initiative to save the Doland Opera House.

Curiosity check: how many of you have explored or borrowed from the partner library collections?
If you need any help getting started with adding these collections to your Libby App, or need help getting signed up to use this service, please let me know - I can help you in person, over the phone, or a message.

I am excited to announce that a Reciprocal Lending Agreement (RLA) between the South Dakota Titles to Go (SDTTG) eBook Consortium (our Libby), the Black Hills Digital Library Consortium, and Siouxland Libraries launched yesterday. The RLA allows cardholders from participating libraries to borrow audiobooks and eBooks from partner libraries, expanding access to digital materials for library patrons across the state.

There are a few limitations to the agreement: you will only be able to place holds for items in our SDTTG Consortium, and not all materials will be available to you from partner libraries.

I have already signed in, and I am excited to expand my searches! All you need is your Libby ID and PIN, and if you don't have the page I wrote them on and told you to keep 😳- no problem - I've got you! Just let me know.

Getting started is easy - I will place a link in the comments for an instructional video. As always, I am more than happy to help you get started!

Mindful Movement: “I am a happy camper!”
Despite the record heat (the library never reaches an internal temperature above 70 degrees), we whipped up a hearty breakfast and headed out to see some dinos. We finally found a t-rex, but didn't stick around long enough to see if he wanted a snack 😥

Story Time: Thank you Carolyn for reading “Have You Seen My Invisible Dinosaur?” by Helen Yoon - a sweet story about a little girl who loses her special, enormous, not-extinct dinosaur.
Then, we found invisible dinosaurs by drawing around shapes with chalk.

The first golden ticket was found, and a frenzy of explorers browsed the shelves hoping to find one to get an extra prize.

Thank - you to all who made time to join us on our Dino-mite adventures. Next week we will read about a cave, then we will do some cave drawing on the sidewalks outside.

There a still plenty of reading logs and dinosaurs to adopt - come see me at the library!

SDSU Extension will host drought meetings from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CDT/9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. MT on June 17 in Hot Springs, Winner and Yankton.

The meeting agenda includes a morning session focused on crops and forages, lunch with a climate and drought update, and afternoon session focused on economics, marketing and livestock management in a drought. Attendees are welcome to come and go as needed or only attended the topics relevant to them.

On June 17th, we will be doing a sidewalk chalk activity after Story Time. If you would like to donate some sidewalk chalk to the library for this activity, I would appreciate it. Please have your donation to the library by June 13th.

The library is planning a Story Time activity in July that uses air dry clay. You can either donate the clay to the library or $ so we can purchase this pack for our activity. The library will need the clay by July 10th.
