RAMP CIL's Executive Director, Jackie Sundquist, is a dedicated disability rights advocate who is expanding the vision for meeting the needs of persons with disabilities. RAMP's success in providing additional services beyond the five cores—skills training, peer counseling, individual and systems advocacy, and transition—is mainly due to its creative staff who find ways to meet consumers' needs. RAMP provides disability awareness training, employment services, training resources, IGNITE program for middle-school students, Teens in Transition (TNT), Project SEARCH, and youth advocacy. RAMP self-funds its programs and services by raising approximately $0.5 million annually through foundation donations, annual appeals, special events, and grant writing. Sundquist believes that for CILs to grow and meet the needs of their consumers and community, they need to invest in self-funding programs and services. RAMP's success is due to its ability to tell the true stories of the disability community and find funding sources that appreciate the impact CILs can make. Invest in RAMP today, and it's an investment forever.

INCIL is proud to support the 32nd anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Every July 26th, we celebrate this important civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, including jobs, schools, transportation, and all public and private places that are open to the general public. The law ensures that people with disabilities have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else. http://ow.ly/CcWF50JC1tB

On June 26, the second workshop was held at the initiative of Artashes Hovhannisyan, the president of the "The Voice of Silence" NGO, and John S. Herring, executive director of Illinois Network of Centers for Independent Living INCIL, this time with the participation of NGOs dealing with the problems of people with disabilities. The goal of the workshop was to exchange experience between Armenia and the United States. John S. Herring emphasized that people with disabilities are individuals and have the same rights in the society as others. Discussions were held on the law regulating the sector; its problems and gaps were voiced. The issues of protection of interests, social inclusion and strategy were highlighted. Artashes Hovhannisyan also addressed the issue of sign language interpretation, a highly sensitive topic in Armenia, stressing that there are few qualified specialists, which hinders the proportional awareness of people with disabilities. Based on the US experience, the speaker offered options to solve the problem.

The event was held within the framework of PFP (Professional Fellows Program) outgoing program with the support of American Councils and funding from the U.S. Department of State.
