JUNE 19, 2026 5:00 AM - FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 8:00 A.M.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for portions of our area until 8:00 a.m.

Doppler radar indicates heavy rainfall from slow-moving thunderstorms across the area. Radar estimates show between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen in the past hour, with an additional 2 inches of rainfall possible through the morning.

Please use caution if traveling near low water crossings. Never drive through flooded roadways—Turn Around, Don't Drown. Stay alert for rapidly changing weather conditions and monitor local forecasts for updates.

Yesterday, June 17, dedicated city employees who help keep our community running every day were celebrated during the annual Employee Appreciation Luncheon hosted by Mayor Mike Kelley and the Springtown City Council.

Employees reaching 2-, 5-, and 15-year service milestones were recognized for their commitment to public service, including Public Works Coordinator Donna Garrett, who marked an impressive 15 years with the City and is currently Springtown’s longest-tenured employee.

Thank you to all of our employees for your hard work, dedication, and service to the citizens of Springtown. Your experience and commitment make a difference every day.

What a week at the Springtown Public Library!

For the first time in library history, we served more than 200 patrons in a single day—and more than 100 additional individuals attended our children's program yesterday.

These milestones reflect the incredible support of our community and the growing number of families, students, readers, and lifelong learners who choose the library every day.

As a department of the City of Springtown, we're proud to serve residents across both Parker and Wise counties. We truly enjoy serving our growing community and are proud to grow right alongside it—expanding programs, resources, and opportunities for everyone who walks through our doors.

Thank you to our patrons, volunteers, Friends of the Library, and staff for helping make this achievement possible. We can't wait to see what comes next!

Celebrating America's Semiquincentennial at Springtown's Star-Spangled Bash

In 2026, the United States will commemorate a historic milestone—its Semiquincentennial, marking 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. While the word "semiquincentennial" may be unfamiliar, it simply means a 250th anniversary, combining the Latin roots for "half" (semi), "five" (quinque), and "hundred" (centennial).

This anniversary is especially significant because it offers Americans an opportunity to reflect on two and a half centuries of history, sacrifice, innovation, and progress. June 17, 2026 1:15 a.m: HEAT ADVISORY ISSUED FOR OUR AREA

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for our area through tomorrow June 18, 2026 at 9 p.m. due to forecasted dangerously high temperatures and heat index values expected throughout the day. Currently heat index values of up 110 are expected.

What is a Heat Advisory?
A Heat Advisory is issued when a combination of high temperatures and humidity creates conditions that can be dangerous to your health. Heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke can develop quickly, especially for older adults, young children, outdoor workers, and those with underlying medical conditions.

Safety Tips:
Limit outdoor activities, if possible,during the hottest part of the day (typically 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.).
If you must be outside for an extended period, please take appropriate precautions and monitor yourself for signs of heat-related illness.
We have many new neighbors from out of state who may be entering their first Texas summer. If your body isn’t accustomed to the levels of heat and humidity experienced here each summer, take extra caution.
Drink plenty of water, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
Stay in air-conditioned buildings whenever possible.
Never leave children, pets, or vulnerable adults unattended in a vehicle.
Ensure pets have access to shade and fresh water.
Check on elderly neighbors, friends, and family members.

If you must be outdoors for an extended period time, particularly if you will be physically exerting yourself, please know the signs:

Heat Exhaustion: Heavy sweating, weakness, dizziness, nausea, headache.

Heat Stroke: This is a medical emergency. High body temperature, confusion, loss of consciousness, or hot/dry skin. Call 911 immediately if heat stroke is suspected.

Please take the heat seriously and make plans to stay cool and hydrated. Continue to monitor local weather forecasts and heed any additional advisories or warnings issued by the National Weather Service.

The City of Springtown is seeking community-minded residents to serve on the Planning & Zoning Commission. This is a great opportunity to play an active role in shaping the future growth and development of our community. The Commission reviews matters related to land use, zoning, and development and provides recommendations that help guide important decisions for Springtown.

If you have an interest in the future of Springtown and want to make a difference, don't miss your chance to apply!

Applicants must:

Be a resident of the City of Springtown
Be willing to serve a two-year term
Attend meetings and review agenda materials in advance
Exercise sound judgment and make recommendations based on applicable ordinances, adopted plans, and the best interests of the community

PSA: PARK RESTROOM MAINTENACE AND IMPROVEMENTS

Over the next several weeks, the City will be replacing the flushing mechanisms in the park restrooms near Cartwright Pavilion in an effort to address ongoing issues related to toilets not being flushed promptly after use and toilets becoming clogged due to repeated use between flushes.

Our park restrooms are cleaned by staff daily, Monday through Friday, and are checked by on-call City personnel throughout the weekends to help ensure they remain clean, safe, and functional for everyone who visits our parks. Despite daily cleaning and regular inspections, restroom conditions can change rapidly between visits by City staff. Like many communities, Springtown does not have the staffing or resources to provide 24/7 monitoring of park restroom facilities, making responsible use and community reporting especially important.

Unfortunately, City staff continue to spend a significant amount of time and resources responding to vandalism and repairing damage to restroom facilities and other park amenities. Every dollar spent on repairing damages caused by misuse and vandalism is funding that could otherwise be invested in new park improvements, enhanced amenities, and other projects that benefit our community. Every staff hour spent on these same activities is less time that could be used on improvement projects.

We ask all park visitors to help us protect these public facilities by using them responsibly and reporting any suspicious activity, vandalism, or misuse. If you observe suspicious activity in the park, please contact the Springtown Police Department's non-emergency line at (817) 220-0828. If you encounter restroom conditions that require attention, please contact City Hall at (817) 220-4834 Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. After hours, weekends, or holidays, please report issues through the Springtown Police Department's non-emergency line at (817) 220-0828 so City personnel can be notified.
