Here's something worth thinking about today, Earth Day: we don't create water. The earth does.

Every drop that comes out of your tap started as rain or snow, filtered slowly through sand and gravel into the glacial aquifer beneath Sanford. That aquifer is our reservoir -- quiet, invisible, and irreplaceable. Our job is to treat it, test it, and deliver it safely to your home. But keeping it clean in the first place? That part belongs to all of us.

Small choices matter: disposing of chemicals properly, being careful about what goes down the drain, protecting open space near our wellhead areas. They add up.

Sanford is fortunate to have a high-quality, abundant water supply. Let's keep it that way.

The Sanford Water District will accept sealed bids on the following item:
2011 John Deere Z445 48” Deck Zero-Turn Mower
Color: Green & Yellow
Hours: 642.4

This item may be inspected by appointment at the District office (324-2312) at 243 River Street in Springvale (Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM).

All sealed bids shall be made on bid sheets available on our website, www.sanfordwater.org,or pickup at our office by request. All sealed bids shall be received at the District office at 243 River Street in Springvale by 4:00 PM on Friday May 8, 2026.

Item sold “As is” and “Where is.” The District has the right to accept or reject any or all bids. Notice of Award will occur by Friday May 15, 2026 after the Trustee’s approve the bid.

Payment shall be made in full by Friday May 22, 2026 and all items are to be removed from Sanford Water District property by Friday May 29, 2026. Failure to do so may result in awarding the bid to the next highest bidder.

As a member utility of DigSafe, we strongly encourage everyone to dig safely no matter how big or small the project may be. The best way to start is with proper planning and notifying DigSafe to mark out underground utilities. And don't forget to notify non-member utilities! We all want everyone to go home safely at night!

The District started flushing hydrants in Springvale Sunday night. Crews will continue flushing (9PM-5AM) in the Springvale area for the next two weeks, then will move south into Sanford for four more weeks. More information can be found one our website, https://www.sanfordwater.org/flushing.

The Sanford Water District flushes it's water mains twice a year to clear any build up of iron in the water mains.  The flushing is carried out between the hours of 9:00PM and 5:00AM so as to minimize any inconvenience that may be caused by the off color water during the flushing of the water mains...
