With all the hoopla, nonsense and downright falsehoods being spun out there - here are the events as they occurred at the Last Board of Supervisors meeting. Six (6) people actually attended out of which two (2) had previously filed their usual frivolous lawsuits, which of course waste taxpayer $$ to defend. To boil all this down into a nutshell. The state of NY already has given (years ago) ALL counties the ability to sell, hold, keep, auction any property that the county obtains through a tax foreclosure without taxpayer input. The county for these parcels, does not have to go through the bidding process, which can be a lengthy, time consuming ordeal. Remember, this is only for properties that are obtained through tax foreclosure. Livingston County has always chosen to put up foreclosure property at an auction but is not required to do so! Those properties that the county already own which were obtained by OTHER means, (gifts, slivers of land left over from previous sales, easements, etc.) were required to go through the competitive bid process which is not only lengthy but costly. In an effort to match what is already allowed by the state of NY the Board of Supervisors elected to amend the County Law so that both matched. I am going to snip from county minutes the events. Anyone STILL having angst can watch it on Utube, where all County Board meetings are live streamed.
