The St. Charles City Police Department is proud to be part of the St. Charles County Regional SWAT Team!

The Regional SWAT Team brings together members from law enforcement agencies across the county, who respond to complex, difficult, and unique situations — typically of a life-threatening nature — where advanced training and non-typical weapons and tactics may be required.

SWAT supports every law enforcement agency within St. Charles County, as well as any other requesting agency, with a tactical response to critical incidents.

Congratulations, Officer Jason Chapple! We're proud to share that Officer Jason Chapple has been named this month's FOX 2 Proud to Serve honoree!

Jason has dedicated 28 years to policing, including the last 5 years as the School Resource Officer at St. Charles West High School. In that role, he's done far more than keep the building safe — between the infamous dad jokes, hallway stress-ball tosses, and simply taking the time to stop and talk, he's earned the trust of students and staff alike and become a genuine part of the Warrior family.

His commitment to service extends well beyond the school doors. Each year, Jason rides in the Police Unity Tour, a multi-day bicycle ride honoring law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty while raising funds and awareness for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial and Museum. He also serves his fellow officers as President of the St. Charles Police Officers Association.

Jason was nominated by a friend who said it best: "He protects, connects, leads, and serves with a genuine heart for people." We couldn't agree more. Congratulations, Jason — and thank you for 28 years of service.

The St. Charles Sister Cities Program has welcomed 26 students and four chaperones from Inishowen, Ireland!

During their stay, the group will attend classes at St. Charles High School and St. Charles West High School while experiencing some of the many things St. Charles has to offer.

Today, a chance encounter with our Traffic Unit officers over lunch turned into something special. The officers took time to welcome the students, show off their police vehicles and equipment, and answer plenty of questions. The students called it their best experience yet!

⚠️ SCAM ALERT: Fake Geek Squad Invoices

Some residents are receiving emails claiming their "Geek Squad protection plan" is renewing for $489.99 (amounts vary). The email pushes you to click a payment link or call a number to cancel the charge.

It's a scam — you never signed up. If you call, they'll ask for remote access to your computer to "process your refund," then use it to reach your banking information and drain your accounts.

How to protect yourself:
• Don't click the link or call the number — look up the company yourself
• Never give remote computer access to someone who contacted you first
• No legitimate refund requires your banking login, gift cards, or crypto
• Urgency is a red flag, not a reason to hurry
• Warn the older adults in your life — they're the primary target

Already gave someone access? Disconnect from the internet, call your bank immediately and change passwords from a different device.

Yesterday, in observance of Purple Thursday and during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, our officers and staff wore purple to stand with survivors, honor those we've lost, and recommit to the work of ending domestic violence in our community.

Purple means peace, courage, survival, and honor. It also means you're not alone.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

The St. Charles Police Department is a registered collection site for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 24, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Residents may dispose of controlled, non-controlled, and over-the-counter medications at no cost and with no questions asked.

Please note that the following items cannot be accepted: needles or other sharp objects, liquids, and inhalers.

This is a safe, convenient way to dispose of unused or expired medications and help prevent prescription drug misuse in our community.

What a great Friday (Oct. 9th) at the Duchesne High School Career Fair! Showing off some of our equipment is always fun, but the best part was talking with the next generation about their futures.

A big thank you to Duchesne for the invitation, to the teachers and staff who made it happen, and to every student who stopped by our booth to say hello. To the students: whatever path you choose, we're proud to serve a community that's raising people like you. And who knows — maybe we'll see a few of you in a St. Charles Police Department uniform one day.
