Tomorrow is Saturation Saturday. Officers from multiple agencies will be out in force across the region conducting a coordinated, multi-jurisdictional impaired driving enforcement effort.

Expect increased patrols on roadways throughout the area. Officers will be watching for signs of impaired driving, and drivers found to be operating under the influence will be arrested.

Impaired driving is preventable. Plan ahead: designate a sober driver, call a rideshare, or stay where you are. If you drink, don't drive.

Today we thank Chaplain Dave Iannacone for nine years of faithful service to the St. Charles Police Department and the St. Charles community.

Chaplain Iannacone helped re-launch our Chaplain Program in 2017–2018. Since then, he has:

• Given 240+ hours of ride-alongs and time at the station
• Responded to 16 call-outs for death notifications, with follow-up counseling for families
• Answered 12 call-outs to assist residents with shelter and other urgent needs
• Provided 50+ hours of counseling to our officers
• Supported the department through the 2020 civil unrest
• Attended swear-ins, promotions, St. Charles Night Outs, Open Houses, the Memorial Prayer Breakfast, and the MO C.O.P.S. Candlelight and Memorial Services in Jefferson City

All of this was on his own time — checking in on officers by phone and text, visiting them in the hospital, and standing with our members at funerals for their loved ones.

Chaplain Iannacone, your compassion, guidance, prayers, and unwavering support have made a lasting difference in the lives of our officers and their families. We are deeply grateful for your dedication and commitment!!

The Community Outreach Team has traded the Polaris and popsicles for their School Resource Officer assignments, returning to our schools to protect students throughout the academic year.

With 4,000 water balloons loaded and ready, things got WET yesterday at our Water Balloon Battle! Balloons were flying, launching, and being thrown in every direction, and there were plenty of smiles and laughs along the way!

Thank you to everyone who helped make this such a fun and memorable day, including Novellus, which generously provided lunch for everyone who came. We also want to thank all of the Eastern Missouri Police Academy recruits who came, as well as every participant who joined us for an afternoon of food, fun, and some serious water balloon warfare!

****PUBLIC RELEASE****

ST. CHARLES, Mo. — On August 7, 2026, at approximately 12:15 a.m., a St. Charles City Police officer observed an ATV being operated on the roadway in the 1500 block of Zumbehl Road. The ATV was driven by a male driver and had two female passengers.

The officer attempted a traffic stop, but the driver failed to yield. The ATV was driven recklessly through the area to avoid apprehension before becoming disabled in a wooded area on the south side of the Sunnydale Mobile Home Community. The driver fled on foot and was not apprehended at the scene. The ATV was determined to have been recently reported stolen out of Cottleville.

Detectives identified the driver as Nicholas S. Delp, 33, and developed information on his whereabouts. Later that same day, Delp was located and taken into custody in the 300 block of Trails of Sunbrook.

On August 8, 2026, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney of St. Charles County, Missouri issued the following charges against Delp:

• Aggravated Fleeing a Stop or Detention — Class D Felony
• Tampering with a Motor Vehicle, 1st Degree — Class D Felony
• Resisting Arrest/Detention/Stop by Fleeing — Creating Substantial Risk — Class E Felony

Bond was set at $25,000, cash only.

The St. Charles City Police Department remains committed to aggressively pursuing those who commit crimes in our city. Fleeing from law enforcement endangers everyone on our roadways, and cases like this one will continue to be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Today, Det. Sgt. Falzone, Det. Henry, Det. Brown, Det. Seerey, Det. Bathon, Det. Alfaro, and Ofc. Gresham received the St. Charles City Spotlight "Team Above and Beyond Award."

This stems from their outstanding work on a multi-jurisdictional narcotics trafficking and money laundering investigation. The case required more than 500 personnel hours and coordination with several agencies, including HSI, RIIC, Maryland Heights PD, Woodson Terrace PD, the St. Charles County Drug Task Force, and the Madison County (IL) Sheriff's Office.
