Check out the draft for the Route N Great Places study! 📃

The East-West Gateway Council of Governments’ Great Streets program, in partnership with St. Charles County, is preparing the Route N Great Places Study to develop a community vision for planned roadway improvements to Route N—because building the right road now will greatly impact how and where future development occurs.

Feedback received at the open house on May 21 reinforced key community values and priorities:
- Creating green spaces and preserving tree canopy 🌳
- Improving safety for all users and expanding travel alternatives to Route N 🚸
- Strengthening connections between neighborhoods 🏘️
- Avoiding strip commercial development and large-scale commercial uses 🏢

The Route N Great Places study is not an active development proposal and will not be approved as county land use policy. Instead, it will offer community vision and guidance to coordinate future transportation improvements and land use decisions across multiple jurisdictions.

The deadline to give feedback is June 22. 🗓️

The deadline to apply or renew for Senior Tax Relief is June 30.

More than 1,500 new participants have applied for the County’s Senior Real Estate Tax Relief Program in 2026. Renewals and new applications are accepted until June 30.

Over 21,000 renewals were submitted as of May, says Collector of Revenue Michelle McBride. That’s out of more than 26,000 seniors signed up in 2025, who collectively saved more than $5 million in taxes.

Bring your worn or damaged American Flag to a veteran-run flag collection at the St. Charles County Administration Building on June 12 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. 🇺🇸

Members of the St. Charles County Veterans Best Practices Working Group will collect worn or damaged flags at the corner of North Second Street and Monroe Street in downtown St. Charles. All flags will be donated to the American Legion for final disposal.

The collection is a drive-thru drop off, so you don’t need to leave your vehicle. Veteran volunteers will collect flags directly from the car.

Anyone who can’t make it to the collection on June 12 can drop flags in designated collection boxes anytime. The boxes are outside the County Administration Building (201 N. Second Street, St. Charles) and at Veterans Tribute Park (1031 Kisker Road, Weldon Spring).
