Summer is on it's way, and that means that these first several days of hot and humid conditions could take our bodies by surprise! We haven't acclimated to these conditions just yet, so be sure to take precautions when outside this week. Tuesday and Wednesday will be the hottest of the period, with a Heat Advisory in effect for many portions of the area. Temperatures will peak in the low to mid 90s, and with high humidity it will feel more like 100-108°F. This won't last very long though, with rain chances returning Thursday, and a cold front moving into the area Friday, temperatures will start to cool by the end of the work week.

It's been some time since we've seen heat index values in the upper 90s to low 100s and our bodies aren't used to the heat stress yet. Take extra caution this week, stay hydrated, weather light colored, loose clothing, and monitor yourself and others for signs of heat illness.
