Today, while President Barack Obama's Presidential Center is opening in Chicago, we are thinking about when 100,000 of our neighbors attended a rally in 2008 in St. Louis for then-candidate Obama, who spoke of a vision of change and hope from under the Gateway Arch.

Brain health is not just a personal health issue—it is a critical public health and economic challenge that requires strong, proactive governance.

𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝑭𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑴𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒔:

➡️More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's, a number projected to nearly double by 2050. It is estimated that 10 percent of St. Charles County's age 65+ population is experiencing Alzheimers disease or dementia.

➡️Caring for individuals with Alzheimer's and other dementias costs the nation hundreds of billions of dollars annually, putting an immense strain on Medicare and Medicaid.

➡️True progress relies on robust, sustained federal funding for institutions like the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to drive medical breakthroughs, support clinical trials, and ultimately find a cure.

𝐷𝑒𝑚𝑜𝑐𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑠 𝑏𝑒𝑙𝑖𝑒𝑣𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑙𝑡ℎ𝑐𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑖𝑠 𝑎 𝑟𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑖𝑛𝑐𝑙𝑢𝑑𝑒𝑠 𝑖𝑛𝑣𝑒𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑖𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑠𝑐𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒.

We must continue to advocate for policies that protect and expand research grants, improve early detection programs, and support care infrastructure.

Several of our regional universities are institutions recognized around the world for their research on brain health. Many of our local citizens work at these institutions that rely on federal research funding to continue their important work.

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞:

✅️Contact Your Representatives, and urge them to support robust funding for the National Institute on Aging (NIA) and the BRAIN Initiative.

✅️Support Candidates who advocate for continued funding to vital Alzheimer's and Brain Health research.

✅️Support Caregivers! Check in on neighbors or loved ones who are serving as unpaid caregivers—they are the backbone of our healthcare system.

𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 — 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

Across the country, LGBTQ+ Americans continue to face attacks on their rights, families, health care, and ability to live openly and safely.

That is why local and state elections matter. School boards, city councils, county offices, and state legislatures all shape whether our communities are welcoming, inclusive, and safe.

This Pride Month, we recommit to protecting equality, supporting LGBTQ+ neighbors, and electing leaders who believe freedom means freedom for all.

🌈 Equality is non-negotiable.
