As a professional notary, protecting the public from fraud is a BIG part of what we do. Here are a few quick tips to help spot a potentially fake ID:

✅ Check the photo – Does it truly match the person in front of you? Look at facial features, not hair or glasses.
✅ Feel the card – Legit IDs have a smooth, durable texture—no peeling edges or flimsy feel.
✅ Look for security features – Holograms, microprint, raised lettering, or UV markings are key indicators.
✅ Examine the details – Misspelled words, uneven fonts, or blurry printing are red flags.
✅ Verify expiration dates – Expired IDs are not valid for notarization.
✅ Trust your instincts – If something feels off, pause and refuse the notarization until proper ID is presented.

🛑 Remember: NO valid ID = NO notarization.
