I’m so excited to present with Heather Nickelson for The Milk Bank on navigating the NICU experience.

All we’ve wanted to do is help parents be prepared for this experience. It’s a journey and it can be a long and painful one. There are some things that can help though, so that’s what we are talking about.

THE thing we wanted to do when starting LOGIC.baby was help other parents. We didn't know our baby was going to the ICU. We had no prep, no info, no guides.

We didn't know how to navigate being at the hospital EVERY DAY for many weeks. We didn't know what it would look or feel like to have to speak up for our baby every day, to make sure we were heard and that we felt a part of our medical team.

We didn't know that our medical team, previously strangers to us, would become our family overnight. That our nurses, therapists, nurse practitioners, doctors, specialist, techs, and so many more, would very quickly know our baby as well as we did, and better than his own extended family who had never met him!

We didn't know these things and so much more.

But, we want YOU to know. We are so excited to present NICU 101 for The Milk Bank's online event May 31st.

If you are pregnant, expecting a NICU stay, or a caregiver/support for a NICU family (friend, brother, sister, aunt, uncle, grandparent), this is for you.

Experiencing time in the NICU can be one of the most stressful times in a parent’s life. If you know you’ll spend time there, how can you prepare? What could you learn in advance that would make the experience even slightly easier? After spending 22 days in the NICU with their son, Otter, Kristen Tippit & Jon Porter created LOGiC.Baby, a nonprofit aimed at building community and providing an education series dedicated to preparing and supporting NICU families. This session is geared toward parents experiencing high-risk pregnancies or families expecting a NICU stay as part of their birth experience.

We will explore what the NICU is like, including creating a schedule and what to bring, how to be your child's best advocate, how to create a communication plan, and all the important ways parents can be involved in their baby's care and medical team.

Did you know there are NO childbirth education classes available specifically going over life in the NICU??

For some, having a baby in the ICU is completely unexpected. For others, they may know, either during pregnancy or when they check in to Antepartum, the chance is high their baby will need some time there.

We want to help anyone who is expecting a NICU stay or who just wants to know about what it might look like to have one.

We are launching a NICU 101 course this year and it will be accessible and available to ANYONE!
