The Kponee-Shovein scholarship awards are open to students completing their first degree at Rivers State University of Science & Technology, University of Port Harcourt, or Saro Wiwa Polytechnic.

The Josephine Kponee grant award is limited to Ogoni females that plan on completing their first degree at Rivers State University of Science & Technology, University of Port Harcourt, or Saro Wiwa Polytechnic.

Are you an Ogoni student getting your first degree at UST, UPH or Riv Poly? The Kponee-Shovein Foundation is offering scholarships to excellent students getting their first degree. The Kponee-Shovein Scholars provides one year tuition support to students with an excellent academic record. For Ogoni women, the Josephine Kponee memorial grant provides scholarship support for the duration of your first degree as well as a yearly stipend. Applications are currently being accepted and the deadline for both awards is August 1, 2018

If you are an Ogoni Student attending University in Rivers State, Nigeria, the Kponee-Shovein Foundation is awarding 4 one-year scholarships to Exemplary Ogoni Students that attend or plan to universities in Rivers State, Nigeria (Riv Poly, UPH, RSUST). Additionally, through the Josephine Kponee Memorial Grant, the foundation will award one promising Ogoni woman starting University in Nigeria with a full scholarship for the duration of her studies and an annual stipend.

The Kpone-Tonwe Foundation STEM Scholarship Award
The Kpone-Tonwe STEM scholarship award was created with the purpose of sponsoring academic, research, and technological projects in support of higher education for Ogoni youth. Each year, the foundation provides 5 scholarship awards for Ogoni students in the United States pursuing degrees in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines. These awards are meant to ease the financial burden associated with pursuing a college education in the United States.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the award, applicants must be from Ogoni and must be pursuing degrees at the undergraduate level in one or more of the 4 STEM disciplines in the United States. High School Seniors that have been accepted to a University and plan to pursue a STEM degree are invited to apply as well.

Application Requirements

To be considered for an award, all applications must fill out the Kpone-Tonwe STEM scholarship application form. Applicants must also submit the following information with their application form:

· A 600 word personal statement describing their motivations for pursing their area of study, reasons for applying for the scholarship award, and career plans upon graduating.

· Official scanned transcripts (high school transcripts for those beginning their first year, college transcripts for continuing undergraduates).

· Resume/curriculum vitae

· Two professional letters of reference

· One page document containing applicant’s Name, Age, Address, Cellphone number, and E-mail Address.

All application materials should be sent to Kale Kponee at [email protected] with the message title “Kpone-Tonwe Stem Scholarship Award Application”. An applicant’s application will not be considered complete until all materials are submitted. The deadline to apply for an award is July 25th, 2014 at midnight.

Scholarship recipients will be notified of their status by the end of August.
