A field trip to the Arch and the Mighty Mississippi is a great way to kick off a new school year. During pre-semester, Master of Landscape Architecture students had the opportunity to explore the Gateway Arch grounds and get their feet wet on a canoe tour with Big Muddy. 🛶

Our new MArch students kicked off the pre-semester by stepping away from the studio desks and into architectural history at the Frank Lloyd Wright House in Ebsworth Park, just a few miles from campus. Soaking up some inspiration before the late-night model-making officially begins!

We never forget that one field trip we took as a kid.

Since 2007, the Alberti program has brought 4th through 8th graders to WashU for a hands-on introduction to the fields of architecture and design.

A highlight this summer was a guided architectural tour of Energizer Park. We also welcomed HOK architects and landscape architects to campus for studio visits. Many thanks to HOK for inspiring the next generation of designers!

The Alberti program at WashU is supported by PGAV Destinations, AIA St. Louis, HOK and the Missouri Arts Council.

Congratulations to Driptaa Chakraborty, AB ’26, who has been awarded a Fulbright U.S. Student Program grant for the 2026-27 academic year. She will use the grant to visit India and study Patan Patola weaving, a method of creating complex textiles in India, as a case study for the intersection of computation, manufacturing, and textile-based fabrication.
