Happy Monday and thank you to all that came out to see Mississippi Moon at Backstoppalooza.

We raised a total of $3,517 for the 50/50 raffle.

The winner will receive $1,758.50.

If you have the matching ticket, please call us at 636-537-3000. Please ask to speak to a Community Affairs Officer.

You must have your ticket to collect the prize.

If we are not contacted by 5pm on Friday, August 28, we will draw another ticket.

Today and tomorrow are the first days of school for many of our kids. School buses are back, bus stops are busy, and more children are walking and biking. PLEASE BE SAFE OUT THERE!

Stay alert. Slow down. Be patient.
Watch for buses, bus stops, and crosswalks.
Put the phone down and avoid distractions.

Our kids may not always be watching for us — so we need to be watching for them. ❤️

Happy First Day of School! ❤️

As our kids head back to school, there’s excitement everywhere—new teachers, new friends, new routines, and lots of school buses back on the road.

The Monarch Fire Protection District would like to remind everyone that keeping our children safe is a responsibility we all share.

At the bus stop: Keep children a safe distance from the road and remind them to wait until the bus has completely stopped before approaching.

Crossing the street: Teach children to look both ways, stay alert, and never assume a driver sees them.

For drivers: Slow down, put the phone away, watch carefully around bus stops and school zones, and always stop for school buses when their red lights are flashing and stop arm is extended.

A few extra seconds of patience and attention can make all the difference.

From everyone at the Monarch Fire Protection District, we wish our students, families, teachers, bus drivers, and school staff a safe, happy, and successful school year!

Crews responded yesterday morning around 1 a.m. to a possible structure fire. Thanks to the quick response from MFPD and our mutual aid companies, crews were able to get the fire under control and complete the job safely.
To put the response into perspective, crews had to deploy approximately 600 feet of 5-inch hose just to reach the truck with water.
That’s a lot of hose to move!

That 600 feet weighs approximately 550 pounds dry, and each 100-foot section can hold about 100 gallons of water. Once charged, each 100-foot section weighs roughly 950 pounds—give or take a few pounds.

Firefighting is hard work, both physically and mentally. The men and women who do this job do it because they care about their communities and love protecting the people they serve. We are proud of our crews and grateful for the mutual-aid companies that answered the call.

Crews responded yesterday to a plane down at Spirit of St. Louis Airport. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported. Our responders worked quickly to secure the scene and assist as needed. We’re grateful to all involved for their quick and professional response.
