Did you know that ice cream cartons CAN’T be recycled? The thin plastic lining, which helps to prevent freezer burn, is very difficult to separate from the cardboard outside, meaning ice cream cartons need to be disposed of in the trash.

Do you know how to recycle plastic bags & film?

Plastic bags & film should NOT be put in city recycling.

To properly dispose of plastic bags & film, take them to participating retail stores. Many have special plastic film collection bins near the entrance.

SAVE THE DATE: The St. Louis region is gearing up to compete in the worldwide City Nature Challenge for the ninth year this April 24-27th!🌱

The City Nature Challenge (CNC) is a four-day bioblitz-style event where 700+ cities across the globe collaborate to gather observations of nature.

Run by the California Academy of Sciences and the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles, the annual CNC offers a platform for people to engage in community science by finding and documenting local wildlife. 🦋

The St. Louis region CNC is managed by Missouri Botanical Garden's EarthWays Center with support from Missouri Dept. of Conservation and City of St. Louis Government.

We need YOUR HELP making observations on iNaturalist this April to contribute to community science initiatives and learn more about our region's biodiversity! 📱📸
