Don't miss your chance to score some free coffee, sandwiches, or doughnuts, and don't miss a fun night out this Thursday night at our inaugural fundraiser! Come join SIPLA and First Chair Society Monday March 28th at noon in 1066 as we welcome attorney Andrea Cannon of Nestle-Purina's Copyright/Trademark Counsel. This is your opportunity to explore whether a career in IP law might be the path for you! Non-pizza lunch will be served!

As a reminder, if you haven't purchased your tickets yet for First Chair Society's Inaugural Fundraiser, the big event is one week from today and you won't want to miss it! It's an excellent opportunity to meet alumni and have some fun while helping to provide scholarship money to a deserving first generation law student. We can't reach that goal without your support, so let's join together for a night of fun and make a real difference now towards a student's ability to access a legal education!

We are still looking for 1 or 2 people to table during the following times: Monday 28 March at NOON and 5PM, Tuesday 29 March at NOON, and Wednesday at 5PM. Log on to the First Chair Society's TWEN page then click on 'Sign up Sheets' on the left and register today! Thank you in advance!

Good morning FCS! The e-board is still in need of volunteers to table during the Noon hour and/or the 5:00pm hour this week (T-W-Th) and next week (M-T-W). If you have never tabled before, it's an incredibly easy way to volunteer and FCS will provide all of the materials necessary for tabling. It consists of sitting at a table on the 11th floor and informing passers-by of our upcoming fundraiser and assisting in selling tickets on Marketplace. The more people we have in attendance at the fundraiser, the more likely we are able to start the scholarship fund!

Please sign up on the First Chair Society TWEN page, under 'Sign-up sheets'. Please contact Sami Schrage [email protected] or Anne Blake [email protected] if you have any questions!

Just a reminder, today, Tuesday, February 23rd at noon in room 1066, the First Chair Society will be hosting "Trial Attorney War Stories: A Demonstrative Focus on the Litigation Concentrations". This promises to be an interesting event with some great speakers!

The visiting speakers for the event are:

1) Christine Archer - MO Public Defender's Office (discussing the criminal litigation concentration)
2) Amy Collignon Gunn - Simon Law Firm (discussing the civil litigation concentration)
3) Jim Holloran - Holloran Schwartz & Gaertner

The speakers will be sharing their hands-on experience by discussing some of their most memorable trials, as well as how the respective concentrations can assist your future career as a trial attorney. If this isn't enough of an incentive for your attendance, P'sghetti's will be served for lunch! We hope to see you there!

Don't forget! FCS will be having a speaker today Nov. 17th at noon in 1166. Join the First Chair Society as we host our second Success Stories Speaker Event Series. Madison County Assistant State's Attorney and first-generation attorney Katie Bucher will be speaking about her experience in law school, what it's like to work in state government as a prosecutor, as well as some internship opportunities available within her office. Additionally, we will be raffling off a “Finals Survival Kit” in preparation for exams (attendance gets you entry in the raffle and you must be present to win) and tentatively discussing our spring fundraiser. Panda Express will be served! Get excited!
