On May 9, 1985, the City of Maryland Heights incorporated, and on August 16 of that year, the Maryland Heights Police Department was formed. The entire municipal government, including the Police Department, operated out of a small converted warehouse located at 212 Millwell Drive. To put in perspective, this first facility was about the size of ourAt that time there were just 40 commissioned polic

e officers that came from a variety of small and large area police departments. Five dispatchers and two secretaries made up the non-commissioned personnel. The officers' first assignment was to paint the interior of the warehouse and construct the first jail, which consisted of four wooden walls and a chair. Then, on August 17, the officers hit the streets in ten used police vehicles purchased from the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The vehicles sported the "gum drop" type police light bars (think Mayberry). Thirty plus years later we have over doubled in size with 79 commissioned police officers, 12 commissioned reserve officers and 17 non-commissioned employees. In October of 2008, city staff, including the Police Department, moved out of the old warehouse and into our new modern Government Center located at 11911 Dorsett Road (just down the street from the old station). In 2009, the Maryland Heights Police Department became only the second agency in the State of Missouri to receive certification under the Missouri Police Chief's Certification Program. In 2016, the Maryland Heights Police Department received international accreditation through the Commission of Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). Please join us for the Guns 'N Hoses First Responder Cup at WWT Soccer Park!

When: May 30, 2026
Where: World Wide Technology Soccer Park (1 Soccer Park Road, Fenton, MO 63026)
Time: 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

This is a family-friendly event that will feature local enforcement taking on firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics.

There will be Kids' giveaways to the first 500 kids.

Proceeds from the event benefit The BackStoppers Inc., an organization that supports the families of fallen and catastrophically injured first responders.

Let's start the summer by learning how to stay safe with Officer Bob! Officer Bob offers two excellent summer programs that give kids hands-on experiences to use in their daily lives.

Safety Town is designed for ages 4–5 and introduces young children to everyday safety through fun activities.
Safety Town sessions run June 1–12 and June 15–26.

Play It Safe is for ages 6–8.
Sessions run July 6–10 and July 13–17.

Both programs meet Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Community Center.

Maryland Heights Police Department and officers from around the metro area will participate in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run tomorrow, Thursday, May 21, 2026.

At approximately 12:45 pm, Maryland Heights Police Officers will be participating in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run. The officers will be handed the torch by officers from the Bridgeton Police Department at Vago Park.

They will then run from Vago Park, south on Fee Fee Road, east on Dorsett Road to Midland and Ashby Road, then hand the torch over to the St. Ann Police Department.

Our officers would love to see the community supporting them from the sidewalks and parking lots along the route!

Expect traffic delays during this time. Dorsett Road will be reduced to one lane from Fee Fee Road to Midland and Ashby, from approximately 12:50 pm to 1:30 pm.

This incident is a powerful reminder that teamwork, training, and quick actions can truly save lives. We are proud to work alongside the men and women of the Pattonville Fire Protection District.

We will continue to keep Adin and his family in our thoughts as he continues his recovery journey.

During EMS Week, we are reminded exactly why this profession matters.

On October 31st, Paramedic/Firefighters responded alongside Maryland Heights Police Department to a devastating motor vehicle accident involving Adin on Hwy 141. Crews arrived to find catastrophic damage and immediately began providing lifesaving care. Adin was unresponsive, not breathing, and suffering from severe traumatic injuries. Through the quick actions of everyone on scene including CPR, advanced lifesaving interventions, hemorrhage control, and rapid transport, Adin was given a fighting chance.

Over the months since the crash, Adin has endured numerous surgeries and an incredibly difficult road to recovery, showing unbelievable strength and resilience every step of the way.

Today, during EMS Week, some of the first responders who helped save Adin’s life had the opportunity to meet him in person. Moments like this are a powerful reminder of why we do this job and the lasting impact emergency responders can have on someone’s life.

Last week, we had a fantastic time celebrating National Nurses Week with the nurses and staff at Ranken Jordan Pediatric Bridge Hospital during our 4th annual kickball game with the Maryland Heights Fire Protection District!

The weather was perfect, and the competition was friendly but fierce!

We are always grateful for the opportunity to celebrate and have fun with the incredible staff who do so much for the children at the hospital.

As National Police Week comes to a close, we want to recognize the five Maryland Heights Police Officers who represented our department this week in Washington, D.C.

Throughout the week, they joined officers from across the country in honoring and remembering the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. We are proud to have had our officers represent the Maryland Heights community during such a meaningful week.
