We were honored to join the Safer Dutchtown Summit and spend the morning in conversation with community members about public safety, accountability, and the criminal justice system.

Circuit Attorney Gabe Gore opened the summit by discussing the role of the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office, the importance of strong partnerships across the justice system, and how our office is working every day to serve the people of the City of St. Louis.

Assistant Circuit Attorney Michael Ware walked residents through the life cycle of a criminal case, explaining the CAO’s role at each stage.

This week, the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office officially launched our Circuit Attorney’s Neighborhood Collaboration (CNC) in the Southwest Garden neighborhood.

Circuit Attorney Gabe Gore and First Assistant Steve Capizzi joined the Southwest Garden Neighborhood Association to share how CNC is creating stronger connections between our office and the communities we serve through communication, collaboration, and accountability.

Students from Visitation Academy stopped by the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office this week as part of their courthouse tour. During their visit, they spent time in our Warrant Office, where Deputy Chief Warrant Officer Sean O’Hagan shared insight into what our office does, how cases are reviewed, and how charging decisions are made.

Circuit Attorney Gabe Gore recently spoke to the Rotary Club, sharing an update on the work of the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office and the progress being made to strengthen public safety and deliver justice in our community.

He discussed our office’s approach to plea agreements, effective prosecution, operational efficiency, and the importance of training the next generation of Assistant Circuit Attorneys. These numbers are more than statistics. They represent children in need of protection, support, and a voice.

During Child Abuse Prevention Month, the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office is committed to working alongside our community to prevent abuse, support victims, and hold offenders accountable.

Sexual violence is often committed by individuals the victim trusts—not strangers. This reality underscores the complexity of these cases and the courage it takes for survivors to come forward.

Week 3 of our Citizens Academy is in the books!

Participants got a behind-the-scenes look at the Circuit Attorney’s Office and heard directly from several of our units. They learned about the grand jury process, how our Misdemeanor Unit handles cases, the critical work of our Special Victims Unit, and how our General Felonies team handles cases.

Each week, we’re building a deeper understanding of how justice is pursued in St. Louis—and we’re grateful for such an engaged group asking thoughtful questions and leaning into the process.

In 2025, the Child Advocacy Center conducted 947 forensic interviews—each one representing a child coming forward to be heard.

Of those:
• 653 involved children from St. Louis County
• 249 from St. Louis City
• 45 from surrounding counties

Behind every number is a child, a family, and a community impacted by abuse. Forensic interviews are a critical step in ensuring children can share their experiences in a safe, supportive environment—while helping professionals respond effectively.

During Child Abuse Prevention Month, the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office recognizes the vital role of Child Advocacy Centers and our partners in protecting children and seeking justice.

Today, our Victim Services Unit hosted a resource fair in recognition of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week—bringing together community partners, services, and information to support victims and their families.

This week is an important reminder that the impact of crime doesn’t end in the courtroom. For many, the path forward is long and complex, and access to support, advocacy, and trusted resources can make all the difference.

We’re grateful to our VSU staff and community partners who show up every day to ensure victims don't navigate that journey alone.
