Who raised the children?
Who cared for an aging parent?
Who cooked the meals?
Who volunteered at church?
Who helped a neighbor?
Who showed up when someone needed help?

Not all meaningful work happens at a workplace.

The Smithsonian notes that Labor Day can honor many forms of labor—including volunteer work and the work of building communities.

Today, we're especially thinking about the unpaid work that older adults and family caregivers have given to others for decades.

What “unpaid work” are you most grateful for?

Here's a little Labor Day history!

The first Labor Day celebration took place in New York City on September 5, 1882.

More states began recognizing the holiday, and on June 28, 1894, President Grover Cleveland signed legislation establishing Labor Day as a national holiday to be observed on the first Monday in September.

The holiday was created to recognize the social and economic contributions of American workers.

More than 130 years later, those contributions continue through generations.

This Labor Day, take a moment to ask an older loved one: “Tell me about the work you did when you were younger.”

You might hear a story you've never heard before.

As Labor Day approaches, we're taking a moment to celebrate something that can sometimes be overlooked: the incredible contributions older adults have made throughout their lives.

They built businesses. Raised families. Served communities. Taught children. Cared for loved ones. Worked with their hands. Led organizations. Volunteered. Served our country. And so much more.

This Labor Day, we're celebrating not just jobs—but **a lifetime of purpose, dedication and contribution.

Because every story matters. ❤️

While you're at work...
While the kids are at school...

Who is making sure Mom is eating?
Who notices if Dad isn't feeling well?
Who helps if something changes?

🍎 **Did You Know?**

The start of the school year is one of the busiest times for family caregivers.

Many adult children have less flexibility to help aging parents once school schedules begin.

That's why having a professional Care Manager can make all the difference.
