Early voting begins tomorrow in Kingsland at the Camden County Annex Building located on 107 North Gross Road in Kingsland. I have lived in Camden County for over 53 years. 32 of those years I have lived in St Marys. I have been employed by the Camden County School System for the last 34 years. I was employed by the Heard County School System for 4 years before I returned home in 1989 as the Head Baseball Coach and Football Coach at Camden High. I graduated from Camden County HS in 1980. I would really appreciate your vote for St Marys City Council Post Two. I have a runoff against Chad Ingram.

Runoff Election St. Marys City Council Post 2
Vote Coach Steve Conner
I will only have one vote so I’m careful not to make promises I can’t keep. None of us know all the issues that will come before the council in the next four years.I do have some things I feel strongly about, though.

The city has put a lot of taxpayer money into improving downtown waterfront and that’s good. Now I’d like to see us do the same thing in Midtown. We only have three major business hubs and the west side and health complex are doing fine. It’s Midtown that now can benefit from more attention and resources.

Increase property assessments by the county and the general impact of inflation nationwide is making it tough on most working class families and many retirees. I want to do what we can to keep from increasing any more fees or taxes for our citizens.

As a coach, teamwork is important to me and always has been. I believe the city council has to foster teamwork if we are to make things happen. I will make it a priority to take a key roll in building that teamwork.

Another thing coaching has taught me is it having the most talented and dedicated players increases your chances of success. I believe that it is true when it comes to hiring and retaining the best city staff we can afford.

I am passionate about making sure St Mary’s doesn’t lose its identity with all of the new growth coming to our awesome community.

As an elected official it is my goal to be the people’s voice on that respective body in which I was elected. I firmly believe that when someone commits to public service that they conduct themselves for serving the public not themselves.

One of our largest challenges is expanding the tax base and not having the burden of paying for the budgets of our governmental entities fall on the backs of a predominantly residential ad valorem tax base. If we can expand our commercial and industrial tax base we can generate more tax revenue faster than on the backs of home owners.

I would be grateful for your vote for Council Member for the City of Saint Marys Post 2 on December 6, 2022.
