For rare updates to the range training schedule that would impact the surrounding areas during the week, please follow us on facebook.com/marinecorpsbasequantico

Marine Corps Base Quantico operates 43 live-fire ranges that support training from small arms to explosive demolitions to artillery fire to the delivery of live-aerial munitions. As a regional facility, MCBQ is a critical asset for weapons proficiency training for Marines, the Department of Defense, federal agencies, and law enforcement organizations.

The impact of noise, vibrations, and/or illuminations experienced across the area can vary greatly depending on the residential location, atmospheric conditions, time of day and reductions to naturally occurring sound barriers.

Because training on Quantico is continuous, residents can expect to always hear some noise or feel vibrations. Although we strive to provide accurate daily live-fire operations, please know schedules/live-fire activities can change due to operational conditions.

Thank you so much to Kiddie Academy. They donated 23 backpacks and school supplies to the Department of Socials Services. This is a great help and will make a difference with children right here in our community.

There’s something about the start of a school year that feels like spring to me, even in August. New backpacks, new classrooms, and new beginnings.

To every student in the Aquia District walking through new doors this year: I hope this year brings you growth, confidence, and a little bit of magic in the everyday. To our teachers and staff pouring into them, and to the parents and PTOs whose passion carries that same spirit far beyond the school walls: thank you for planting seeds that will bloom for years to come.

This is what that looks like. One community, sending another off with love.

Here’s to bright futures, ahead for us all.

Redistricting had a big impact on ABES, with a substantial number of former Dragons heading to the brand new Crow’s Nest Elementary School.

Our outgoing PTO Board pledged a donation to help our friends at Crow's Nest Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization-CNES PTO get the year started! We hope you have a wonderful year and take good care of our former Dragons.

As we like to say, Once a Dragon, Always a Dragon!

I want to share an update on the Brooke Road Reconstruction Project, an important infrastructure improvement planned for our community. This project will realign and elevate a portion of Brooke Road between Raven Road and Maplewood Drive to help reduce flooding and improve travel for residents and motorists who use this corridor.

I'm happy to report that the project continues to make progress. The design has been approved by VDOT and is approximately 85% complete. In addition, the PROTECT Grant has been executed, permit work is underway, and notices to proceed have been issued for utility relocations with Verizon and Dominion.

The project is fully funded through a combination of local and federal grant dollars, representing an investment of more than $12.5 million in our community. We are working toward completing right-of-way acquisition in 2026, with the goal of advertising the project for construction bids in early 2027.

I know many of you have been looking forward to improvements along Brooke Road. Thank you for your continued patience and support as we move this important project forward.

UPDATE: Tuesday, July 28 - The recreational advisory for Accokeek Creek is still in place pending additional water testing results. The advisory is tentatively expected to be lifted on Thursday, July 30, and an update will be made at that time.

People and animals should refrain from recreational activities along Accokeek Creek, including fishing, due to an ongoing sewer line repair. More info: https://utilities.staffordcountyva.gov/news_detail_T2_R79.php
