As we honor our fallen heroes here is a Stafford connection to the legendary Tuskegee Airman.

Stafford County real estate appraiser Brandon White proudly displays a portrait of his father Lt. William White, one of the original Tuskegee Airman.

William White was born in Smithfield, Virginia in 1926. He was drafted in 1945 and served his nation with honor and distinction. After receiving an honorable discharge, Mr. White returned home and married Elsie, his wife of 65 years. Being a humble man, Mr. White never spoke publicly of his service or time with the famed Tuskegee Airman.

His lone surviving child, Brandon White works in the Commissioner's office as a real estate appraiser. We thank and honor both men for their commitment to public service.

As a victim of a real estate/ponzi scheme this is very good information. Trust me when I tell you it can happen to anyone and it can come from the most unexpected places like friends and family.

A little over 10 years ago the Fredericksburg Region was subject to one of the largest real estate frauds in Virginia history. The fraudster scammed some of the smartest people I know out of tens of millions of dollars and ended up in jail.

He was someone we all knew and trusted. I first met this individual when I was 5 years old playing soccer at old Anne Moncure ES. We graduated high school together and even spent a year in college together. That friendship and familiarity ended up being the leverage he needed.

Please keep your guard up and be careful.

Winter Storm Fern Update

Stafford County Government will be closed on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, due to inclement weather. Low temperatures overnight will prevent deicing agents from working, leaving roads and the Government Center campus icy.

A prolonged period of dangerously cold wind chills in the single digits or subzero is expected through the middle of next week. Please check on elderly neighbors and bring animals inside, as hypothermia can set in quickly in these conditions.
