Fort Bend County Libraries' Mamie George Branch Library in Stafford opened in November 1974, and was named for Mamie George, a well-known Fort Bend County philanthropist. The mission of Fort Bend County Libraries is to bring people, information and ideas together to enrich lives, expand minds, and strengthen our community. Join us on Wednesday, October 30, for Microsoft Word 101! This beginner class will cover the basics of Microsoft Word (2016), which is available for use at the library. We will be going over how to create a document, save a document, and format documents as well as how to change font, colors and inserting images and tables.

UPDATE (Monday, October 14, 3:30 pm): The Mamie George Branch Library will re-open on Tuesday, October 15, at 10 am. Regular operating hours will resume.

The Mamie George Branch Library (Stafford) will temporarily CLOSE starting Thu, Oct 10, for construction. Items may continue to be returned to the temporary book-drop located behind the library, even while the library is closed. The pick-up location for items that have been requested and placed on hold for pick-up at the Mamie George Branch Library will temporarily default to the Sugar Land Branch Library, located at 550 Eldridge, until the Mamie George Branch Library re-opens. The entries to the Fort Bend County Libraries' "We Are Fort Bend: Summer Splendor" Photography Contest for 2024 are in! Cast your vote by liking or loving your favorite photo by July 30 for a winner to be announced at the reception ceremony. The reception ceremony will take place on August 3 at the Bohachevsky Gallery at the George Memorial Library from 2-2:30 pm.

The deadline for Fort Bend County Libraries' “We Are Fort Bend: Summer Splendor” Photography Contest for 2024 has been extended! To be eligible for competition, contestants must submit a printed copy of their photograph – no larger than 8”x10” -- by Saturday, July 20. Entries can be submitted at any FBCL location (except the Fulshear Branch). They can also be mailed to: Fort Bend County Libraries, Marketing & Communications Office, 1003 Golfview, Richmond, TX 77435. All contestants must include an entry form with the photograph. UPDATE 7/8/2024 at 10:00 pm: Because of power outages affecting several buildings, all Fort Bend County Libraries will remain CLOSED on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.

All Fort Bend County Libraries will be CLOSED on Monday, July 8, because of inclement weather.

For your safety, please do NOT return books during the emergency closure. Overdue fines will be waived for Monday and Tuesday, July 8 and 9.

The Fort Bend County library system is pleased to announce that Monique Franklin has been appointed as Interim Library Director for Fort Bend County. She has been with Fort Bend County Libraries since 2011, most recently serving as Assistant Library Director for the past year. Prior to joining FBCL, she worked at various library systems, including Harris County Public Library and Houston Public Library. Greetings Adventures! We summon ye forth to join us for our four-part summer adventure here at the Mamie George Branch Library! Every second and fourth Tuesday in June and July at 2 pm we will be hosting a session of Dungeons and Dragons 5e! We will provide dice, rule books, and characters, so all you need to bring is yourself! Beginners and more experienced role players are all welcome at the table! Space is limited, so be sure to register online if you would like to play.
