๐Ÿš’Congratulations, Driver/Operator Drew Chubb!๐Ÿš’

The Stafford Volunteer Fire Department is proud to congratulate Drew Chubb on being officially released as an Engine Driver/Pump Operator (DPO)!

Becoming an engine operator is no small accomplishment. The release process is lengthy, challenging, and requires a significant commitment of time, training, and dedication. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in emergency vehicle operations, pump calculations, water supply and fireground hydraulics, apparatus placement, incident and scene management, and much more.

An Engine Driver/Pump Operator carries tremendous responsibility. They are responsible for the safe operation of the apparatus, the delivery of water on the fireground, and most importantly, the safety of the entire crew from the moment the apparatus leaves the station until it returns back in quarters.

Drewโ€™s achievement reflects countless hours of training, studying, and hands-on experience while proving his competence to our officers and experienced operators. His commitment to mastering these critical skills exemplifies our department motto, Dedicated 2 Excellence.

Please join us in congratulating Drew on reaching this important milestone. We look forward to seeing his continued contributions to Company 2 and the citizens of Stafford County.

Congratulations, Drew! Well earned and well deserved! ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ‘

82 Years Later โ€” We Remember D-Day

Today marks the 82nd Anniversary of the Allied invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944 โ€” a day that changed the course of history and helped secure the freedoms we enjoy today.

On that historic morning, thousands of brave service members stormed the beaches of Normandy, facing overwhelming odds with extraordinary courage, determination, and sacrifice. Many never returned home, but their actions forever altered the future of the world.

As members of the Stafford Volunteer Fire Department, we understand the meaning of service, commitment, and answering the call when others are in need. While our mission is different, we remain inspired by the selfless dedication demonstrated by the Greatest Generation on D-Day and throughout World War II.

Today, we pause to honor the heroes who landed on Omaha, Utah, Gold, Juno, and Sword beaches, as well as all those who supported the operation from land, sea, and air. Their legacy continues to remind us that freedom is never free and that service to others is among the highest callings.

Please join us in remembering and honoring the men and women whose bravery on June 6, 1944, helped shape the world we live in today.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿš’ Congratulations to the Newest Graduates! ๐Ÿš‘๐ŸŽ‰

The Stafford Volunteer Fire Department would like to congratulate all of the dedicated volunteers who recently graduated from the Fire Academy and EMT Academy. These programs require an incredible amount of commitment, determination, and sacrifice. Countless evenings, weekends, hours of studying, hands-on training, and practical evaluations all culminate in earning the privilege to serve our community.

We are especially proud to recognize our own Probationary Firefighter Maxwell Vanfield on this outstanding accomplishment. Graduating from the academy is only the beginning of the journey, but it is a significant milestone that demonstrates the hard work and dedication required to become a member of the fire and rescue service.

As Maxwell and the other graduates begin the next phase of their training and release processes, they will continue building the skills and knowledge necessary to answer the call when our community needs them most.

At Company 2, our motto is Dedicated 2 Excellence, and these graduates have already demonstrated exactly what that means through their perseverance and commitment to serving others.

Please join us in congratulating Maxwell and all of the Fire Academy and EMT Academy graduates on this tremendous achievement. We look forward to watching you grow and succeed in the fire and EMS profession.

๐Ÿš‘ Congratulations to Rescue Lieutenant Corey Fore! ๐Ÿš‘

The Stafford Volunteer Fire Department would like to congratulate Rescue Lieutenant Corey Fore on successfully passing the National Registry Paramedic Examination and earning his National Registry Paramedic certification!

This is a major accomplishment and a direct reflection of Coreyโ€™s hard work, dedication, and commitment to the EMS profession. Becoming a Nationally Registered Paramedic requires countless hours of studying, clinical rotations, field experience, testing, and personal sacrifice. We are extremely proud to see Corey reach this significant milestone in his career.

At Company 2, our motto is Dedicated 2 Excellence, and Coreyโ€™s achievement is a perfect example of what that means in action. His commitment to continuous learning and professional development not only strengthens his own abilities as a provider but also enhances the capabilities of our department as we continue expanding our volunteer Advanced Life Support (ALS) services for the community we proudly serve.

While earning his National Registry certification is a tremendous achievement, the journey is not over yet. We look forward to seeing Corey complete his precepting process and continue growing as a paramedic while making a difference in the lives of those we serve.

Please join us in congratulating Rescue Lieutenant Corey Fore on this outstanding accomplishment!

Dedicated 2 Excellence.

๐Ÿš’ Answering the Call Beyond Our Own Station ๐Ÿš’

Last night, Stafford County Fire and Rescue faced a significant incident with a two-alarm townhouse fire that required resources from across the county. While all of Company 2's apparatus were already committed, our volunteers still answered the call for additional staffing.

Recognizing the need for more personnel, our members responded to Company 14 and staffed Engine 1514, allowing that apparatus to be placed into service while Company 14's career personnel were assigned to Rescue 1514 and operating at the fire scene.

This is a perfect example of why the training, certifications, and release processes matter. Volunteer firefighters in Stafford County complete the same certification requirements and operational release process as our career personnel. That commitment ensures complete interoperability between volunteer and career members, allowing us to seamlessly support any station, any apparatus, and any emergency when our community needs us most.

We are proud of the members who stepped up and answered the call:

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿš’ OIC: Captain Gus Leite
๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿš’ DPO-I: Technician Drew Chubb (not pictured)
๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿš’ DPO: Technician Carlton Burkhammer
๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿš’ Firefighter Gage Moore
๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿš’ Probationary Firefighter Hunter Shelton

Whether staffing our own apparatus or helping another station maintain operational readiness, our volunteers continue to demonstrate what it means to be Dedicated 2 Excellence.

Thank you to all the volunteer and career personnel who worked together to protect our community last night.

Last week, Stafford Volunteer Fire Department members responded alongside our county partners to a major mass casualty incident on I-95 South. Incidents like these require a tremendous coordinated effort, bringing together firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, law enforcement, dispatchers, and many others to care for those affected and restore safety to our community.

During this response, Tanker 1503, Ambulance 1509, Engine 1502, and Assistant Chief 1502 were all staffed entirely by volunteers who answered the call in the middle of the night to support the incident and the citizens who needed help.

What many people never see is what happens after the scene is cleared.

For our volunteers who staff overnight, the emergency didn't end when they were released from the incident. After spending hours operating in a high-stress environment, treating patients, managing hazards, supporting fire suppression operations, and assisting with the overall response, many of our members went home only long enough to shower, change clothes, and report to their regular jobs the next morning.

They are teachers, mechanics, healthcare workers, business professionals, tradesmen, public servants, and parents. They answer the call when others are asleep, serve their community during some of its most challenging moments, and then continue their daily responsibilities with little recognition.

This is the reality of volunteer service. It is not done for praise or recognition. It is done because our members are committed to serving others and ensuring help arrives when our neighbors need it most.

We are incredibly proud of the professionalism, dedication, and selfless service demonstrated by all of our volunteers during this incident. Their willingness to leave the comfort of their homes, respond when called, and then continue on with their everyday lives is a testament to the strength of the volunteer fire and rescue service.

To all of our volunteers who responded that nightโ€”thank you for your commitment to Stafford County and for continuing to embody what it means to be Dedicated 2 Excellence.
