E-bikes are becoming more popular throughout our community — and while they’re a fun and convenient way to get around, safety must always come first. 🚴⚡
Recently, the Stallings Police Department has received concerns regarding unsafe e-bike operation in neighborhoods, including excessive speeds, failure to follow traffic laws, and riders operating without proper safety equipment.
We want to remind everyone that e-bikes should be operated responsibly and respectfully to help keep our streets, sidewalks, and neighborhoods safe for all residents.
Whether you’re riding for fun, transportation, or with friends, remember:
✔ Wear a helmet every ride
✔ Watch your speed in neighborhoods
✔ Ride with traffic and obey traffic laws
✔ Stay alert for vehicles and pedestrians
✔ Parents — know the capabilities of your child’s e-bike
Our goal is not to take away the fun — it’s to promote safe riding habits, prevent accidents, and protect our community.
Together, we can make sure everyone enjoys riding safely here in Stallings.

Weather Update:

Oakspring Rd is currently closed due to flooding in the area. If anyone notices any additional roads that are flooded, please contact the Stallings Police Department. Stay safe!

UPDATE: Pleasant Plains is back open!

We are currently assisting Matthews PD with gas leak and fire at Friendship / Pleasant Planes Road. Pleasant Plains Road will be shut down for at least a couple of hours. Please make your travel plans accordingly.

The roadway is now back open.

Traffic Alert - Morningwood Drive is closed at Pleasant Plains Road due to a natural gas leak and fire. Matthews Fire & EMS, Charlotte Fire Department, Charlotte NC - Hazmat and Piedmont Natural Gas are on scene now. Please avoid the area and use an alternate route.

Press Release

On April 8, 2026, at approximately 6:22 p.m., Stallings Police responded to a traffic collision at the intersection of Stallings Road and Guion Lane involving a Toyota Tacoma and a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

Upon arrival, officers located the motorcycle operator, identified as Nelson Lee Graves, with serious injuries. Bystanders began life-saving measures prior to the arrival of emergency personnel. Union County EMS continued treatment; however, despite their efforts, Mr. Graves was later pronounced deceased.

The driver of the Toyota remained on scene and cooperated with investigators. Witness statements and evidence from the scene are currently being reviewed; however, preliminary information indicates the Toyota Tacoma entered the intersection against a red light. No impairment is suspected, and at this time, no charges have been filed.

The victim’s next of kin has been notified.

This collision remains under active investigation by the Stallings Police Department. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Stallings Police Department at (704) 821-0300

Update: Stallings Commerce is back open

TRAFFIC ALERT

Due to a vehicle fire with a tractor trailer, Stallings Commerce road will be closed until crews can clear the debris. This includes the on ramp to Highway 74 westbound. We will update when the road is back open.
