Why do we volunteer.

Why do we volunteer? Is it to help strangers in their time of need? Is it to make a difference? Is it the adrenaline rush of fighting a fire or the challenge of thinking outside the box when cutting a wrecked car apart to save a trapped family? Is it to bring a lifeless person back from an overdose with Narcan, or perform CPR on a father of 3?
Yes to all the above.

12/11/19 - The Stamford Fire Dept recently took delivery of a heavy duty turnout gear washer extractor and drying equipment for turnout gear. Purchased with a FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant, this equipment will allow us to clean the gear to remove the carcinogens and toxins produced during fires and absorbed into the gear. The grant was written in part by Emergency Response Consulting and the equipment was purchased from Northeast Municipal.

Good morning,

It’s been a busy 20 hours for VTTF-1. Yesterday we received orders to mobilize and head 130 Miles east. We arrived at the National Guard Armory in Elizabethtown, NC around 7:30pm. The logistics team took the lead as we set up our BOO (Base of Operations). Our BOO was complete around 11:30pm, our heads hit the pillows around 12:30am. We were up at 6:00 for coffee and a quick breakfast. We had our morning briefing and jumped right into doing some yard work around our BOO. The team is in great spirits and ready to go to work when called upon. We appreciate the support we’ve received from the State of Vermont Vermont Emergency Management, NC Emergency Management and Greensboro Fire Department. Most importantly we appreciate the support of our families and employers that support VTTF-1. We’d like to take the opportunity to the random cars that pull along side us traveling down the highway giving us a thumbs up or the individuals that ask to take a photo with us as we fuel up.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT

Remember Green Up Day!
Hi! I’m the Artistic Associate over at the Dorset Theatre Festival. We have a wonderful program here at the festival called the Giving Back Program that provides “Paying-What-You-Can” tickets to those who serve our community everyday including: Firefighters, Veterans and those serving in the military currently and their family, EMS workers, Farmers, Police, Special Needs Community Members, Student graduates of the Refuse to Use Program, and Habitat for Humanity Families and Volunteers. If you are a member of one of these communities, we have a wonderful show currently running through August 4th called “Skeleton Crew” here at the Dorset Playhouse that you can purchase these “Pay-What-You-Can” tickets for! If you are not a member of one of these communities, you can still purchase tickets to come see the show! To do so, please call our box office using the information on the attached flyer and spread the word. Hope to see people there :)
Hi I'm with the Dorset Theatre Festival! We have an exciting event coming up that we would like to share with everyone. On June 28th at 6:30 pm, we will be honoring firefighters with our Community Partners Night where there will be complimentary food and drinks and live music from local musician William Seeders Mosheim. Following this event at 7:30 will be a performance of our current show "Cry it Out". All firefighters will receive free admission, and the show is additionally open to the public. Please share the flyer with anyone you think might be interested in this wonderful event. Hope to see the town there to celebrate our communities firefighters for all their hard work!
